Sons of Attila - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 2)

He said Python IV but I think the question is wether the Python IV will be added at all in the enar future not necesarily the aircraft type. Python IV would be lovely for Kfir.

3 years for the old 2A5 (PSO), which is slower than the 2A5 and 2A6, even with a 1650 horsepower engine. Only this additional armor will not save you from crowbars. It’s not even Strv 122 level. Now in the game he has a thermal imager very similar to the thermal imager of the 1st generation.

but it never was used by germany, it was always meant to be a export vehicle, besides, the germans will get a upgraded KF31

It is a seriously insulting addition. Very similar to the M1A2 SEP without its improved hull armor.

Python IV does not need to be on the Kfir.
Also, as far as I know, the timeframes for the Kfir’s service life and Python IV’s service life do not match up:
Kfir was retired in the early 1990s, I think '92 or '93. Python IV entered service around the mid-90s

Why direct this at me?

I will say, while Germany and France definitely needed a new MBT, it would good if America will also get a new Abrams soon next update perhaps.

For the sake of answering your question directly (because I have a different take down below), here’s what I think: Over the past few months I’ve flown F-16s a hefty amount, to spade all of them except for the Italian one, and I have experience in the MiG-29A as well.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the time, in terms of BVR, whoever gets the missile off the rail first is the one who wins. Even if the R-27ER is better, the AIM-7M is also similarly a long-ranged missile and it’s decent.

The AIM-9L is a really good missile, even if the R-73 far outmaneuvers it. It’s also decently maneuverable and has a smaller field of view so it’s less likely to be flared. If the R-73 receives IRCCM, the AIM-9L still has flare resistance anyway, and stays as efficient as it is now.

Both are maneuverable, but one is better for instantaneous dogfights while the other is better in rate fights. In dogfights as well, one has a harder hitting 30mm cannon, but the other has a lot more ammo and very good firepower.

Now in terms of the F-16C vs MiG-29SMT match up, I retain the same opinion, but I also add that the F-16C has more missile hardpoints and perhaps an easier radar to use.

The take that I consider more important though, is that we’ve reached a point in aircraft technology where these slight differences don’t make much of a difference anymore. We used to have OCD when the MiG-17 had just over 3 kph of an edge over the CL-13 for example and we strived for perfect balance which was justified back then but with the current nature of combat in top tier I think it’s not warranted anymore.

I think it now depends on the better pilot, with a bit of luck getting the first shot and having potent weaponry irregardless of the stats. If you’ve got good missiles, that’s all you need. If you fire your AIM-9L or AIM-7M at the MiG-29SMT first and kill it, then his R-73 doesn’t matter anymore.

We can’t stop the game from progressing because one nation has a “wonder weapon” but others don’t. Then in this case we would have to wait out, unrealistically add R-60Ms to the MiG-29SMT and Su-27 models, until they add the AIM-9X but then many people will complain until they add the relatively new and obscure R-74M2 at that point. What I do is find contentment in what I have and work with it. I have never once complained about the R-60M’s inferiority to the AIM-9L for example because it is still a good missile anyway.

Of course again I stress that this doesn’t mean I don’t want the AIM-9M added. I think it’s going to be real fun and interesting seeing how an AIM-9L but with dedicated IRCCM and a smokeless motor is going to play out.

Challenger 2E and Vickers MBT 7 were never used by Britain either

IRST search devices, like found in the nose of the MiG-29 was something they hadn’t thought of or expected, first and foremost. Sensor fusion therefore was also a foreign concept to US planes even in the 90’s.

I found it funny how mike had a hard time in the stream hyping it up

I agree with everything that youre saying but I feel they could at least add the Aim 9L/1 ir fix the 9Ls IRCCM back to the way it was pre nerf.

Kfir was retird mid 90s, do you know if the Python 4 was used or wether the Kfir has been used as testbed? I’ve seen Python 3 and 4 on Columbian Kfir C.10. I had thought Python 4 entered service earlier.

R-27 proved that the AIM-7 was not going to cut it, and so efforts have continuously been made, to this day, to keep up with the R-27 and R-77 family. AIM-120 got entire upgrades just to try to close the gap.

I suggested the AIM-9M at the end of my comment as I did a few times before, it’s not wrong either

Oh for sure im not trying to argue it I just feel like something should be done but apparently in the files the 9L did get buffed so we’ll have to see

Don’t forget the FOD screen advantage as well as the insane short takeoff and altitude climb rate.
