they did use R73, hell the development of the IRIS missle started because they had the R73 and realised that western counterparts werent up to its level, the IRIS missle started development because of the R73

Puma- So many problems Wrong armor, not correctly working MUSS, not working Ahead, wrong precision of the gun, to high overhead
Gepard 1A2, missing FAPDS ammo because of balance reasons, Proxy stinger bugged and not equippable since release
Tornado, missing IRIS T or better aim 9l variants, countermeasure pods dont work right, missing ecm, missing ordenance , missing ground radar
Leopard 2a4/5/6 all missing their updated ammunition or better composite armor types
Begleitpanzer missing HOT missles and Helicopter warning system
I can list more problems then you can for your vehicles and i didnt include mig 29 in that one^
One could argue that other nations have bigger problems in their state then ussr
