So you’d rather have no Swiss vehicles in the game because you’re afraid it’ll make Germany look weak.
Honest sounds like you love Germany a bit too much.
War Thunder is a video game, a fiction.
The German tech tree in WT does not represent real-life Germany.
This is about simulating war games.
With that said, there was no real backlash for Swiss Hunter going to Germany. There was a murmur from upset Brits thinking they’d never get a flare equipped Hunter for Britain even tho there are options that aren’t Swiss.
You misunderstand why I disagree with Switzerland going to Germany.
It is not because I love Germany (it is actually one of my least favorite nations in the game).
Rather, it is because I am very interested in the Swiss military and would love to play as them independently. I would be quite sad to see potential vehicles that would be able to bolster a potential Swiss tree go into another tree, no matter which one, because I am an avid supporter of a Swiss one.
These feelings also extend to Czechoslovakia, Poland (or V4 if those two are paired together) and Yugoslavia.
And yes, War Thunder is a video game, it doesn’t have to be realistic. With that in mind, why not add stuff from nations that cannot support their own tree but fit in Germany? Chilean Leopard 2CHL or the Greek Leopard 2 ASPIS are perfect examples. Perhaps even the Argentinian Pulqui II, which is based on German WW2 jet blueprints.
Why not add those over Swiss stuff, which would by all accounts be a waste with these alternatives being very available. Germany is a great weapons exporter after all, they have plenty other options.
And I’d say that backlash isn’t a wrong way to describe the Swiss Hunter situation. Look at the comment section on that things devblog and you will find overwhelming negativity.
Sure, it’s more because it would’ve fit better in the British tree rather than people being upset that Switzerland wasn’t getting things kept for itself, but it comes to show that in the eyes of many it still wouldn’t make sense to “add Switzerland to Germany” as these kinds of things are implied with such statement.
Well Swiss can’t come independent, there isn’t enough vehicles.
& suggesting them be independent means you suggest they shouldn’t be added because it is clear there’s not enough.
Just as SK cannot be added independent.
Well currently Sweden supasses German top tier lineup. Its got the Strv’s and the Leopard 2A6 from Finland for lulz, which is Germany’s current top dog. They also have better heli, better SAM AA and better IFVs.
If Sweden ever gets the new Danish and Norwegian Leopard 2A7 derivatives and the 2A8 as well, it would be a disaster for Ger. Same as if Italy gets the Hungarian 2A7 mod or the Lynx.
Currently Germany is the only nation which permanently gets shafted by their own Leopard designs, since Sweden + Finland often face them. Also applies for the Leopard 1 (Sweden, Finland, Italy), AMX 30 Super (France) and the 2A4’s (Sweden, Finland). All German designs, but ended up in other TTs. Thats pretty annoying and not very immersive. Imagine the Aussie Abrams would have gone into the british TT and would have been put against US all the time.
The proposed trees aren’t proof; they’re an indication that I appreciate.
Largely because the ground includes things that could be prototypes or paper. [This is not implying they are paper]
And the air tree is clearly lacking, as even Israel has nearly as much starting at rank 4, and less than Israel’s proposal to rank 7.
And I very much dislike the state of Israel tech tree & would prefer it be modified to start at rank 1.
It seems our Swedish players say it is unacceptable for GB to get Gripen which is ‘leased’(same as lend-lease vehicles in WW2) under contract between MOD and SAAB while they want Leopard 2A5/7DK and 2A8NO which has zero relationship with BAE Systems AB(former Hagglunds) and swedish army.
