They did receive updated iff. Just not an iff interigator.
I assume the IFF interrogator is part of the radar so it would be a lot more expensive to add one?

That seems incredibly nonsensical, especially for launching missiles like the AMRAAM. I mean, IFF was already a problem in the Vietnam war and the F-4F ICE was supposed to defend the skies of Germany until the 2000s when the Eurofighter would replace it.
Isnt the Nose or rather the radome of the Phantom bigger than that of the F-18?
Makes sense, the F-4F ICE is likely pushing the limits of what could be done with that airframe, it wouldn’t be weird for features to be missing simply because integrating them would be far to costly.

I agree, but it is what was done. Afaik the plan was to have an f15 nearby the f4f ice providing iff calls based on whatever f4f saw on it own radar over radio, or relying on u.s. awacs calls. Both sound like a recipe for disaster imo.
At that point it almost seems like the east germans had that better figured out, where ground control would vector for example the MiG-21s onto target and obviously tell them what is do the target idetification for them. Honestly kind of sad…
The f4f ice relied heavily on ground based radar for iff as well. Basically since the aircraft didn’t have an interigator. They compensated any way they could.
Well funded, but most of that funding is/was wasted due to some rather horrific bureaucracy and bloated procurement processes, leaving little usable money

There you can rip out a lot of useful and practical aircraft, assault F-16 and much more. A-64D APACHE and much more. It’s just that 3 of these countries have the same F16AM and F16AB, they could be made either in the tab of the 1st aircraft or make 1 with 3 liveries. There are many such examples. I want to take at least the whole letka and all the German Leopards 1,2. I don’t want the same story not to repeat with the top Leo 1,2 as with Sweden. What happened to Sweden is SUR!This is a small part of what can be added.

There are other nations without rank 7s so it’s obviously they might be focused over tech trees with rank 7 premiums.
Since gaijin added for trailed stuff for Sweden because they won’t get anything else.
Then having added Stuff for Japan they never used because it’s fills a gap.
I think it’s clear enough they will add things where there is a gap in time and tech.
