I don’t know if this is an alt account of Hazeldsr or just a different user who said “I” for some reason, but I will assume this is an alt.
You in fact did say it was the case.
You said the following:
No hint of nuance, don’t act like you were nuanced about it.
While what you say here may be sound to a fair extent, it does not excuse saying that “Poland and Switzerland” are German sub-trees when in fact they aren’t.
This is obvious misinformation and should not be stated as a fact.
So a vehicle named Panzer in the French tree is an issue, but a vehicle called Mirage in the German one isn’t?
Nor French not German players will ever be happy with any outcome, let’s face it.
Just make Switzerland - Austria one tech tree and remove all the controversy that would otherwise arise.
Switzerland could quite easily work as an independent nation and would not need to be a sub-tree.
They would have the potential a rank I-VIII capable air tree that is arguably better than that of Israel and a ground tree that would surpass that of Italy and Sweden.
The only thing they would really lack is naval, but then I need to remind you that Israel is present in game.
There is also no reason to make Switzerland a sub-tree for either Germany or France beyond this.
Linguistic similarities do not matter for trees in War Thunder and Switzerland has never been overly relient on either Germany or France for military hardware. Yes they had stuff such as Leopard 2, but that’s largely where it ends on the ground side of things.
And no, France does not need support from a sub-tree at all, they need support from Gaijin and would just need their plethora of missing vehicles to be added in order to fill their gaps. France is one of the most potent nations in the game.
if it would need to be added as a sub tree I’d put swiss vehicles to the Swedish tree because (although recently changed) the sweds had a similar Political approach to war as the swiss
No, obviously not Hazeldsr, I just felt the need to qualify some things I’d said that partially overlapped with some of his points. For example, I didn’t bring up the “integrated military” thing, which he doesn’t describe correctly, and that’s why I didn’t respond to the part of your comment refuting him on that. But I did namedrop Belgium, so when I read your response to him, I felt like adding an explanation for my own earlier comments.
Err, no, I’m afraid you have the wrong quote there, chap. That is not my post, it is Hazeldsr. Just press CTRL and F, search the quote, and see for yourself.
This was my full comment mentioning Belgium:
So yes, I was being completely speculative, as indicated by the “if BNL machines ever come” and what I “thought” Gaijin would “go for”.
I hope that is sufficient clarification.
I didn’t say they were, though. I’m guessing Hazeldsr did, again? I only skimmed through most of his comments.
I said that “Gaijin groups vehicles at their convenience” and that the game isn’t about modelling independent political authorities. I brought up examples of this attitude at different levels of the game; maybe I wasn’t super clear with my wording, but that was my intention. I brought up the Leo2PL as a vehicle from a different country than the tree’s, Hungary as a subtree in Italy, and the matchmaker allowing ahistorical combos like, err, Nazi Germany and Israel, to drive home the point that Gaijin doesn’t really place much stock in that element of the “simulation” (used here in the loosest possible sense), and therefore saying “the Netherlands can’t be in the German tree because they weren’t in the Axis” is IMHO unlikely to be a factor.
the Leo 2a7 in game translation propably would have no difference to the 2A6 propably, changes where mostly internal, do you have a link to the ru forum discussion wanna have a laugh
I see the confusion now.
Not trying to be rude, but I think for next time it’d be good to not begin with “I” after not being mentioned, leads to some confusion.
You seem like a much more pleasant person to talk to though, the way you speak is much more of something I’d be willing to listen to xd
He didn’t say to add copy/paste nations, just that any future nations will have a certain degree of copy/paste.
He is mainly an advocate for the Benelux tree, which has plenty of unique stuff on offer just with some copy/paste in between.
No no, you’re right. It’s just my crippling ADHD, I’ll think three thoughts at once and only write down one. So that can lead to confusion at times. :D
