I’m not sure the MiG-25 carried the R-73 and even so the MiG-25 still wouldn’t be a great match for the F-15, it would fly more like a Tornado F.3 shooting long range missile from a distance and keeping up speed so it can avoid dogfights.
Still would love to see the MiG-25 in game though, it feels like it could be added now easily enough, don’t even think it would be 12.0.
Hate to break it to you, but:
The F-20 was an entirely different airframe to the F-5A/C and F-5E.
It had major structural changes to (attempt) to make it more on par with its contemporaries (F-16, F/A-18), as well as an entirely new flight control system.
Edit: Think of the F-20 not as a modified F-5, but a proper familial development (it shares similarities with the previous aircraft in the F-5/T-38 family, but is also entirely new). Sort of like how the F/A-18A/B/C/D is a development of the YF-17, or the F/A-18E/F is a development of the Legacy Hornets.
Edit 2 (previous sentence here felt more mean-spirited after reflection, decided to replace it with something less-so): Gaijin (based on my knowledge) has never fully replaced a premium aircraft with something way more capable than what it used to be (it would be a tad chaotic to suddenly wake up one morning and find that your F-5C is gone, instead being replaced by a plane capable of matching the F-16 in some flight parameters, as well as in terms of weapons, and being at a battle rating of 11.7-12.0).

I just think that now would be the right time for a late MiG-25 with OK medium range missiles and 2 or 4 R-73
it would fit well to counter an early F-15 which is already countered by MiG-29
the problem with MiG-25 is that most the info is from the very first version which carried only R-40R/T as armarment
I’ve seen pictures of them and I’ve heard claims that the later versions could carry R-73, what is certain is that they carried R-60M from the PD onwards
and R-40 aren’t even that long range because keep in mind they are less advanced as R-27ER and with a missile their size I doubt they’d be manoeuvrable
Do you think we’ll get a DM-73 on 2A7V or 2A7+, which is bound to be in this update. I just understand there is little information on the Dm-83, but you can still find it on the Dm-73, because we need an obps to break through the dz relict. And how do you think the developers will be able to give us 2 tops at once. In the form of 2A7+ and 2A7V in this update. But I think how the upgrade to 2A6 will be (EX), and to 2A5 TWS II or modification of other countries. We must regain balance and comfort for ourselves and our eyes.
You are right, just looking at what is easily available the R-40 has a similar range to the R-27R, and way less than the ER, given that I think it would be interesting to put it at a much lower BR, like 10.7 with just the R-40s and R-60s, it would fill an interesting niche of being an even worse dogfighter than the F-104 but with a PD radar and longer range but not very maneuverable missiles it could fill that early interceptor role quite well, the kind of thing that has good early match impact but if it ends up in a 1 v 3 at the end stands absolutely no chance. Just a thought.

from what I’ve heard DM73 had 20% more penetration power than DM63 and DM83 should also have in turn 20% more than 73
but that sounds so much like Sales speech that I wouldn’t call it usable info
MiG-25P is the earlier version without the PD radar, I honestly don’t see them adding it at all, it would be so so bad, basically a pure bomber hunter when there are no strategic bombers past 7.3 really.
When you mention “early” F-15, are you meaning in terms of radar and weapons (so like a gimped MSIP II F-15A), are FULL early (with no CMs as well)

An F-15 with no countermeasures sounds horrible, it would be too good offensively to be anywhere below 11.3 but too bad defensively to be anywhere above 10.3, like how do you balance that?

From what I remember, only like one or two squadrons’ worth of F-15A/Bs were upgraded via the MSIP II program in 1985, since the original MSIP I program (dedicated to the A/B models) was cancelled.
Funnily enough, F-15C was the same as the A until 1985 with MSIP II, so no CMs…

Yep. I think the Israelis had their own program in the early 80s to put CMs on their Eagles, but it may have also been around the same time as MSIP II

Mig-25s are at best 11.0.
Mig-31 for a better one, but even then that’s still 12.0 likely.
