Why is this weapons loadout not allowed on the Su-17/22?
mounting the TV guided Kh-29T does not take away the Klen laser designator-rangefinder. So why is this a “forbidden” loadout?
Issue #2:
i will provide colour keys for the “diagrams” i am making.
RED = Practical maximum vertical limit of Laser designator (note the inaccurate HUD symbology at the bottom)
BLUE = HUD stated maximum vertical limit of Laser designator
YELLOW = I don’t even know what this is supposed to be. No weapon carried by the Fitter has such designation limits.
RED = Practical maximum vertical limit of laser designator
YELLOW = What is this???
RED = Practical minimum vertical limit of laser designator from cockpit view
YELLOW = What is this???
RED = Practical minimum vertical limit of laser designator
YELLOW = What is this???
@Technical Moderators
umm is anyone more educated about russian technology?
because i am finding trouble finding sources
its a limitadion off the laser, it cant handle diffrent weapons at once, therefore its not possible
bro… just dont…
the TV seeker is
- independent from the laser
- fire and forget
please dont spread misinformation
Pretty sure that the avionics don’t support having both at once. Don’t know what it is with the Fitter specifically but I know for a fact other Soviet aircraft of the era also had such “limitations” (in quotations because it was never intended to use both at once IRL)
Actually this was a change enacted to stop the use of the kh-29T as a targeting sight for laser guided weapons.
This used to be possible. And still is on the Su-25BM.
This is not a historical limitation. As these two weapons are and can be carried without adding or removing ANY components from the aircraft except pylons.
