What you’re saying leaves no middle ground for me.
[Side note: I’ve said in a previous reply and now I’ll add an edit to the original post: it was my first game in the puma - bone stock.]
So in order for me not to have been the POS in this situation, in your view, I needed to do what? Wait for some nebulous moment where it suddenly becomes “fair” to who? How many teammates? The “bulk of the team”? For them to get in or near our closest cap so the points can be distributed “fairly”? Barring that, I should have charged forward to B where the only protection (concealment rather than cover, really) is a few wafer-thin walls in the shopping center?
I contend that what I was doing was a rational counter to the enemy team’s actions, as they had begun capturing their near-spawn objective at pretty much the exact same moment I started capturing ours. Believe it or not, I want the team to win, even if it’s for my own selfish reasons of getting a higher multiplier at the end of the match. I figure that a rising tide lifts all boats, and I play the objective with that in mind.
Remember when people used to all line up on the edge of the point before capping… Now that was some teamwork.

I gotta say, since I started playing back in 2016, I’ve never seen that happen. Sounds like a pleasant thought though.
I think it all started changing when they messed with the rewards the cappers were getting, and the ‘sharing’ of the points or something… Only a few years back. That happened then people started just rushing and grabbing points.
What happens now is if the cap is capped on the ‘capping’ you did but you left the circle or died, you get credit for some. So if you drive through and run off it so the rest can cap it but it doesn’t hit the 0/neutral cap, it’ll give you some.
Yea, I definitely got 0 points on this cap after I was shoved out, despite doing probably over half the capping. To echo the sentiment of some people who have replied here, it’s nice when I can get cap points, but I’ve never felt entitled to them to the point where I’d do something petty like this, in the case that I perceived it as me being “denied” those points, especially if it’s by virtue of something as trivial as an ally getting there first because his tank was faster.
Moreover, I get that everyone has bad games, but if people are relying on shared fractions of the points from the first capture objective as their pay day for performance in a match, they need to step up their game.

Yea they do need to catch up and be faster.
Many don’t even know about roads, the benefit of joining a fresh match, and being ready to hold w from the start.

Isn’t that also a reason to get banned? Intentionally griefing someone, even admitting to it, as well as intentionally putting Artillery on your Allies i.e. Teamkilling.

Nothing toxic about being first on cap.
This is a team game, sometimes you won’t cap a point in a match.

His forum posts and bad takes make sense now.

There was a time when people would wait for several teammates to arrive before capping. Maybe 7-8 years ago (longer?) it was still a common thing. Really common. And it was cool. But Gaijin has just changed the dynamics of the game so much that now this rarely happens. And I’m the same. If I take a speedy out and can cap the first point all on my own, fine, I’ll do it. Because that’s how you get spawn points. If there are other teammates also in speedies and we can possibly all arrive at the same time to cap the first point, then I’ll hold up long enough for them to also move in. But I sure as shit ain’t waiting for the slowpokes to arrive on the scene.
This is also why I always keep my head on a swivel when capping solo. At that time, the potentially toxic players out there on Team Blue are more of an immediate threat than the actual enemies. Keep any eye out for them, keep moving (depending upon the size of the cap zone) so it’s maybe a little more challenging for them to ram into you, and sometimes I’ll also pop smoke if the MG sweatlords are out in force. Just assume someone’s going to be a dick to you… because that’s how the game works nowadays.
Sometimes I miss the good 'ol days of early War Thunder. Sigh…

Oh yeah, there was a lack of top tier premiums vehicles back then. I wonder if that had anything to do with all this
I can kinda get the sentiment of wanting you to wait for other people to get on the cap before you do a capture as I have played vehicles before where every RP point gained is worth it as the vehicle is crap otherwise, but usually I say it in chat first in hope that the faster guy will read it and be generous (which doesn’t always happen)
However, with the chat gone, guess that wouldn’t happen…and pushing you out of the cap is asshole behavior regardless.
Personally i do find solo capping kinda a D move depending on the situation
Since those early rewards can be really useful for stock tanks that needs research
If your team is a bunch of heavies that will need some time? Sure its fine
Multiple are keeping up but you beat them by around 3 seconds? You definitely could have waited
Depending on the map and cap layout ill skip the first cap for my team and go straight for middle one
That being said, ramming a solo capper out of the zone isnt really gonna help in anyway besides making enemies
I prefer just giving them a little MG burst too signal my dissapointment 😔

So how exactly are you helping your team by getting the first cap? you could secure the middle cap or scout enemies. You know, things light tanks are supposed to do? Instead of using it to beat your own team in a race to get the cap points?
Getting to the cap before anyone else starts the ticket bleed sooner, which could lead to a quicker victory.
