So have you just disabled the TTD's Composite armor?

This thing is built to be 3BM-42 Proof AT POINT BLANK. WHY IS 105 DM33 PUNCHING THROUGH ITS UFP LIKE NOTHING?

Like genuinely what the hell, the TTD had stronger UFP composites than the T-72B. That was one of its main design requirements, So that it could work in the close quaters combat that South Africa was dealing with at the time.

And things like this have been happening ALOT.

I’ve had Milan’s Pen the turret front, Which they 100% should not do.

You either shadow nerfed the hell out of its composites, or its a bug.

The composite is mainly designed to stop heat, not ap.
The majority of the armour protection provided by the composite is NERA panels, which don’t affect a kinetic penetrator as much as it affects a heat jet. The TTD also just does not have the thick backing plate that other composites have.

But yeah, it’s still probably underperforming. Pretty much every heat projectile bigger than 120mm will go straight through the turret, which is kind of ridiculous.
Though, I’m still much more concerned about it not getting its spall liner than it not being able to tank 3BM 42.

Same thing with the Ariete… 30mm APDS is slicing straight thru the turret cheeks which is simply not possible… especially with the WAR kit on… according to Gaijin it doesn’t even stop HEAT warheads some how…

Huh? So, what’s wrong with that shot? TTD has a little bit better hull than Leopard 2a4 and you got shot with DM33. Its an easy pen situation.

Source?

As of the TTD’s Construction it was intended to be proof to any 125mm APFSDS and HEAT shells of the time.

Considering that was the 1980s, it should be proof to 3BM-42.

This seems to be a case of 105 DM33 over performing to hell and back from what i can find.

That round should not be doing ANYTHING it does in game.

I mean the shell can UFP a Leopard 2 or Turret front a base M1 Abrams at 2km… that doesn’t seem right.

Yeah Nope. That is the strongest part of the turret front, at over a km.

have you encountered the funny bug that makes your ammo disappear even already loaded shells after having something hit your roof? no ammo cook off or other visual cues all your ammo simply gone and stuck eternally reloading a shell that doesnt even exist until you rearm on a cap

the armor around the trunnion is a little lower than the armor to the sides due to the parts not being angled leaving it with less kinetic protection and a total armor value of around 300mm against apfsds which pretty much every tank can penetrate from 9.3 and above
9.0 (full down tier) however struggles against the TTD most people will aim for your gun anyways

i dont know about the real values or anything or what it should look like but thats how it is in the game

Gaijin Be like: Oh yeah DM33 can nuke a heavily armored MBT that should be 3bm-42 proof from the front no issue.

But can’t pen a poorly armored leopard 2K’s mantlet.

Make up your mind gaijin.

IS DM33 some magic round that nukes everything, or can’t pen a mantlet i can punch through with L23.

The leo 2k is up there with the T-72 in the ability to just magically eat rounds when hit around the mantlet/gun
