Smoke artillery rounds are causing inconsistent mechanical damage across vehicle nationalities:
NATO/Japanese vehicles:
- VBCI (French): Single indiret smoke artillery round destroyed transmission at. Subsequent barrage finished my vehicle.
- Type 89 (Japanese): week ago I had the same incident thinking it was an occasional bug and ignored it. Smoke artillery round destroyed engine completely.
Soviet vehicles:
- Light tanks like BTR-82, 2S25: Sustained multiple direct smoke artillery hits with zero mechanical damage.
Expected Behavior
Smoke artillery rounds should either:
- Cause consistent mechanical damage across all vehicles equally, OR
- Cause no mechanical damage to any vehicle (smoke rounds aren’t designed to destroy transmissions and other components)
Additional Issue
Hit Replay archive generates no BLK files for artillery hits or smoke rounds. This makes documenting these incidents significantly harder and prevents proper bug reporting through official channels.
Evidence

(VBCI transmission destroyed by indirect artillery smoke round)
Questions
- Are smoke artillery rounds supposed to cause mechanical splash damage?
- Why does damage vary by vehicle nationality?
- Why does the Hit Replay system not generate BLK files for artillery impacts?
