Sikorsky - UH-60M: Armed Black Hawk Kit

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is one of the most ubiquitous helicopter’s to be built, doing anything from cargo and troop transport to medical evacuations to frontline combat air support. But now instead of needing separate UH-60’s for each mission type, you just need the one. On the 15th of April 2026, Sikorsky announced their new Armed Black Hawk kit to give nation’s existing fleet of UH-60M’s the ability to provide both transport and gunship roles at the same time.

History

The Sikorsky UH-60 was developed from a need for a replacement to the UH1 Iroquois (Huey) in the late 1960’s. The United States Army launched the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS) program to find suitable contenders. There were 2 main contenders for the program, Boeing-Vertol’s YUH-61A, and Sikorsky’s YUH-60A. The YUH-60A would first fly on the 17th of October 1974 with the first 3 out of 4 prototypes being delivered to the US Army for testing in March of 1976.

In December of 1976 the US Army would choose the YUH-60A as the winner and order production of the aircraft re-designating it as the UH-60. The UH-60A would enter service in June 1979 with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. It’s first combat missions would take place during the Invasion of Grenada in 1983 and would go on to be used in nearly all conflicts since. It would be primarily used for the transport of troops and cargo and for MEDEVAC. It would also be used as a gunship with the development of the Direct Action Penetrator (DAP) variants which removed it’s transport capability in favour of being armed with various guided and unguided munitions.

The UH-60M is one of the latest variants of the Black Hawk family which entered service in 2006 and on the 15th of April 2026 an armament kit for the UH-60M was announced which allowed it to serve in both transport and gunship roles at the same time. Formally known as the Armed Black Hawk Kit the idea is to give the UH-60M a wider set of capabilities so that it can be more flexible in it’s mission set without the need for extensive modifications or for separate fleets for each purpose. The kit give the UH-60M a pair of stub wings similar to what is seen on the MH-60 DAP aircrafts but without the need to remove it’s transport capabilities. The stub wings allow it to carry a variety of guided weapons such as modern AGM-114 Hellfire II, AGM-179 JAGM, Spike NLOS and APKWS rockets along with unguided Hydra rockets and a variety of gunpods.

Good tech tree vehicle FYI China has a similar load out for there domestic black hawk so you would have a tech tree sister.

Not sure what armament it can carry exactly but I’d assume similar to the other Chinese helicopters we already have in-game.

Sad its not already in game Chinas Black Hawk though ya its a copy of the USA was developed off of the civil version which they imported but these heli’s are new and packed with domestic tech with some changes to the design

There new attack heli is based off of it so yes the back hawk airframe was eventually developed into a pure breed attack heli.

Knowing gaijin they will find a way to give them US made Blackhawks with some bs of Taiwan or other reasons. They already have an Abrams might as well give them the rest.

This isnt a good thing in game i should mention…

I am always in the more is better category mainland will be great because you get the best technology like from 2020 so you will out compute everyone. Taiwan would be great as a pack heli if it does the same but a little worse. But we are getting a little off topic.

When infantry mode comes to the forms for suggestions I will be suggesting heli inserts and we all know the Black Hawk drone (made from older versions in storage)

You can have a few guys and a truck in there.

Air launched reconnaissance drone fitted to a UH-60M being fired. The Altius A700. Also more recently seen being launched from an AH-64E.

Can the thing land? Or is it a attack drone with support capabilities? Find targets and when its done you fly it into a target.

I think it’s just a recon drone but that’s able to designate targets. So in theory you can launch the thing and go behind cover and use it to target and guide in missiles.

Would be so toxic in game.

I would prefer for the current UH-60 Black Hawk in the US tech tree to receive an upgrade pack for the Spike NLOS system and give it a unique loadout. Maybe the AGM-179s as well, but if we do so it will be a weaker AH-64E option for the US in my opinion. The current UH-60 is in the same situation, where it is no real difference in gameplay to the AH-64 Apache variants, I would even argue that AH-64A and D are the better option since they can carry 16 Hellfires, 4 Stingers and the 30mm chain gun turret in one loadout. The US UH-60 is unique in WT today by having the ability to carry 8x Stinger missiles, acting like an airborne SPAA, but a weak one at it’s current BR since many jets around 11.0 can dodge a Stinger or beat it in range with better anti-air armament.
