Shouldnt the pershing by any chance have a weakspot where it's gunsight is?

There is a massive hole in the mantlet there yet for some reason the thickness is exactly the same as the rest, why?

which pershing

if you mean the m48 then its just a old model with a pretty simplified damage model im pretty sure

pretty much all tanks need to cut holes in the armor model for the optics to actually work as weakspots, instead of a black hole.

No I mean this thing, on t34 and t32 of all variant. actually calling it pershing may not be correct

yeah that’s what I’m saying, but for some reason the massive port on the t32 and t34 and their variants don’t consider it diminished armor in that location DESPITE there being a fist sized hole there, which is frankly, quite unfair imo

No one but the french amx-30’s have that modelled

The gun sight hole used to be 36 mm thick and several months later removed and merged with the 203 mm mantlet due to how weak it is against autocannons like Ostwind which sorta defeats the point of being a heavy.

Many tanks in-game has this case of “no optic hole” since it sorta defeats the entire tank’s main strength. Another example would be Sturmtiger’s giant open hole for the gunner’s optics. Gaijin denied bug reports on it for that gameplay reasons.

I’m pretty sure they could have made it around 120-150mm to still make it a weakspot. if i get uptiered in my tiger 2 and a t32 is hull down I can’t do anything to it even though historically there should be a weakspot there. it’s also a little laughable to me that SUDDENLY gaijin balanced it for ‘‘gameplay reasons’’ then completely decks tiger 2’s engine power ‘’‘because it had an optional governor historically’'. the engine change, okay, I’m fine with that. like it sucks shit because it has turned the tiger 2 into something REALLY slow, but okay, it was historically like this.

But pershing gunsight ISN’T a concern?

Tbh it was a needed nerf, KTs are extremely extremely good at 6.7. They’re genuinely a very brain dead tanks to play. Even after the engine nerf it’s still extremely brain dead easy to play.

All Pershing and its derivatives already have much more varied weak spots. It literally isn’t a concern.

Sorry but having 180 of almost flat turret armor just isn’t that great, not to mention the massive mg port that allows even downtiers to pen it relatively easily. the whole turret is basically a massive weakspot to it’s equals, god forbid you fight an uptier. I get penned through my turret face in 6.7 matches all the time. the only time tiger 2 is extremely good is in downtier but even then it’s slow as hell.

‘‘All Pershing and its derivatives already have much more varied weak spots. It literally isn’t a concern.’’

it isn’t a concern to you because you play the US faction so of course you don’t concern yourself with tanks of a faction you main having weakspots, how awfully convenient that history is suddenly remembered when it comes to german vehicles but a weakspot that should be on a vehicle that has 300mm mantlet armor isn’t modelled so that it can sealclub with impunity because of ‘‘gameplay reasons’’

Well you know, those two are basically the only weakspot you have and you basically need 200 mm pen to have a guaranteed chance at penning it, from most ranges at least. The hull MG is a very tiny weakspot as well which mostly allows you to push aggressively since your only weakspot is the rather small turret face for the most part.

Well I play all nations though mainly for the rather niche vehicles except for a few cases. US just happens to have some of my favourite weird vehicles. And frankly, KTH in particular is just so easy play with since you essentially can point and click almost everything you face.

Besides, I barely ever heard “sealclub” combined with T32. The last time that happened was when it was 7.0 for a brief moment. Is it a good tank? Absolutely. Is it a brain dead sealclubber? I wouldn’t say so since you basically face a lot more guns that can just ignore your armour at that BR not to mention your very slow reload yet mediocre pen for the BR.

A LOT of vehicles have 185mm pen at 6.7 (tiger 2 turret face isn’t 200mm, it’s 185, 15mm is A LOT in this context), even around 6.0-6.3, but 300mm is completely out of reach even for the jagdtiger’s 128mm. Also the hull mg port isn’t a tiny weakspot at all, in fact the metal there gets thinner in a certain radius around the hole the closer to the center you are, this is contrary to the mg weakspot of the t34 for example where you have to hit with pixel perfect accuracy to hit the mg ports. granted their hull protection isn’t great but vast majority of wt battles are in hull down positions.

There is no reason a t34 and t32 and their submodels couldn’t have a viewport weakspot, doesn’t even have to be god knows how large and thin.

Semi-related, the Pershing’s mantlet armor is modeled incorrectly. Currently, it’s 152 mm (6 in). In reality, it should be corrected to 4.5 in (114.30 mm).

These US Heavies and Super Heavies around that BR are impossible to defeat frontally. This always has been an issue.

185 mm flat, except it’s not really flat as it’s on a slight angle.

Granted the gun sight is thinner, albeit it’s such a tiny spot that it barely matters except in point blank range.

Here’s how US short 90 mm M82 shell with 185 mm pen does at point blank.

Idk how this isn’t tiny.

But this require “pixel perfect shot”

Both using KT’s long 88 at 500 m

Frankly I don’t want to see the old days where the giant optics get penned by AAs. On T32 it might be fine since it is pretty darn tiny (about as small as KTH’s optics), but I disagree on T29 series. They already have this tiny forehead weakspot anyway (which a lot of people don’t know).

all the more reason to give them their historical weakspots
