you would think so. As fas as i know only black prince has that modelled “properly” (has a gigantic armour hole that ruins the tank)
You do realize that the tiger 2 also has a gunner optic at the front of the turret, and adding that feature in game would pretty much nerf all tanks with front turret armor, including your tiger 2?
the tiger 2 still isnt slow at all tho. For such an imfamously overweight lump of junk with an overstressed engine and transmission is honestly still overperforming in mobility and can still be played like a medium tank with very little punishment for doing so.
Its also profiting from the gunsight not really being a weakspot, the preproduction turret (1-50) variants sights even act as a volumetric black hole making it shrug off shells that would carve through the production turret easily at times
I’m fine with tiger 2 having a modelled optic. actually more than fine if it helps downtiers not being helpless against me.
you don’t even need a panther, you could do it with a M10, the armor there isn’t that thick
thats not a pershing bro
all of them have notable weakspots that are easier to shoot than those of the KTH
Lolpen gun with fast reload and near impervious armour is no reason over that? T26E5 is worse in every way except in mobility/agility and ammo options. It is KTH’s equal though.
The gun is the only good thing about it.
- Mobility? 1/5 (absolutely atrocious)
- gun handling? 2.5/5 (sluggish turret traverse, alright gun depression)
- armour? 2.5/5 (basically hope your enemies are clueless enough to aim for the UFP)
- Survivability? 2/5 (permanent ammo rack in the turret ftw)
- Firepower? 5/5
That’s not enough of a reason to pick it over a T26E5.
Reload is completely average. T26E5 has the exact same reload of 7.5s aced.
Armour is pretty awful. Even 5.3 tanks can ignore it’s turret armour and either cripple it severely, or outright one-shot it.
I won’t pretend like the short 90mm has the best penetration of a 6.7 tank, but even that gun lolpens a Tiger II:
- Top speed? T26E5
- Acceleration? T26E5
- Reverse speed? T26E5
- Forward pivot? T26E5
- Backward pivot? T26E5
- Turret traverse rate? T26E5
- Gun depression? T26E5
- Magnification? T26E5
- Penetration? Tiger II Early
- Explosive filler? T26E5
- Velocity? Tiger II Early
- Reload speed? Tied
- Secondary armament? T26E5
- Turret armour (Front)? T26E5
- Turret armour (Side)? T26E5
- Upper frontal plate? Tiger II Early
- Lower frontal plate? Tied
- Hull sides? Tiger II Early
The mobility gap is also enormous, and the T26E5 has an easier time penetrating (and one-shotting) a Tiger II Early through it’s turret front than a Tiger II Early does against a T26E5.
ngl, not a single shot i probably couldnt do with the 76mm either, honestly, a number of them could be done with a 75. but turret face is the only weakspot the thing has frontally and its still overall better protected than the majority of 6.7 tanks, and outarms all other than the likes of tortoise.
the tiger 2 early is still a better overall tank than the Jumbo Pershing IMHO.
- Mobility is at least 2/5. 1/5 is Maus/T95/Black Prince level of slow where you lack acceleration and top speed, KTs have 38 kmh top speed with an average cruising speed around 30.
- Gun handling is 4/5/ Sure the traverse is a bit slow, but you’re on a very stable platform that allows you to shoot on the move.
- Armour is 3/5 for KTP and 4/5 for KTH. Impervious hull front with only the turret being a major weak spot is great. Idk why you only rate “the part that gets penned” and not the big picture.
- Survivability 3/5 probably. Again the turret is a death sentence when penned but since actually getting that shot at range isn’t particularly easy (small weak spot + wiggling).
- Firepower 5/5 no question needed.
Might as well say it’s average because KV-1 reloads longer…
Comparing reload speed without comparing the firepower makes no sense especially when one can one tap everything without the need to switch shells. For the firepower, the reload is fast. T26E1-1 with similar firepower (slightly worse on APHE) takes almost twice the time (12.5 s) or IS-2 series with their 20 s aced for example.
Are you actually comparing a 6.3 with a 6.7? Well yea no shit there’s no reason over T26E5 when Tiger II early or what we usually call King Tiger P (KTP) is weaker because it has no turret armour. We’re talking about Tiger II late or what we usually call King Tiger H (KTH) and frankly 80% of that video shows KTP front pens and only 1 MG port pen on KTH.
Idk how suddenly the topic moved to KTP for no reason other than for justifying how good T26E5 is. Might as well compare M26 against KTP at that rate…
You know that not every single aspect is important in the field right? You can divide it into simpler categories: Agility, Mobility, Versatility, Firepower/Reload, Gun handling, Armour/Survivability, Auxiliary. Which in that case it’ll look like:
- Agility: T26E5, faster turret/hull traverse and acceleration
- Mobility: T26E5, higher top speeds
- Versatility: Both, both can snipe or brawl very well in most terrains/maps. T26E5 more towards brawling, KTH more towards sniping.
- Firepower/Reload: KTH, better overall firepower relative to reload rate.
- Gun handling: KTH, very stable chassis allows for firing on the move.
- Armour/Survivability: Both, both are pretty much equals just with different weak spot layout.
- Auxiliary: Both, KTH has smoke grenades and T26E5 has 50 cal and has more ammo options for specific use cases (requires ammo switching which isn’t practical depending on the situation).
Looks a whole lot comparable when you remove super specific little details that all fall under the same category.
Mainly due to its firepower relative to armour probably. You need less accurate aim with it compared with T26E5.
In no way is it anywhere close to a 2/5.
26:25 seconds to reach 35 km/h, a M26 Pershing takes 13:40 seconds to reach 35 km/h. That’s nearly double the time taken, and the M26 certainly ain’t no speed demon itself.
The mobility is truly atrocious, and there are few vehicles in this Battle Rating range that have equally horrendous mobility.
Maus is a significantly higher BR and can’t ever be on the same team as a Tiger II Early.
M18 is 5/5.
M46/T-44 is 4/5.
Panther G/T-34/85 is 3/5.
M26/IS-2 '44 is 2/5.
There’s no way a Tiger II gets to be the same rating as a M26 or IS-2 when it has half of their mobility.
T26 has better gun depression, faster turret traverse, and the only reason it’s that stable is because it’s slower than a snail.
Any tank is stable when it’s that slow, so moot point.
In fact, I frequently reverse side scrape with my T26E5 which has a -13 km/h reverse and it’s just as stable as a Tiger II is at that speed. Plenty of heavy tanks can do the same.
Gun handling is 2.5/5.
Nobody aims for the hull on a Tiger II Early.
Tiger II Early is a tank that has atrocious mobility in sacrifice for armour, and it gets one-shot through the front of it’s turret even by some tanks 2 full BR’s below it.
Armour is 2.5/5 and that’s being generous.
Hence 2/5.
It’s infinitely better to have a strong turret but weak hull than it is to have a strong hull but weak turret.
As shown in the video I linked above, the 90mm consistently one-shots the Tiger II Early frontally, you cannot argue it has good survivability when the part that you have to expose to do anything (turret face) results in one-hit-deaths when exposed.
Goes for every heavy tank.
Good luck aiming for the thin strip of weaker armour on the T26E5’s turret roof at 900 metres distance.
The T26E5 has significantly more difficult weakspots to hit at range than the Tiger II Early does.
Because I’m saying the BR change was justified, and it used to sit at 6.7.
You said ‘‘KTs are extremely good at 6.7’’
I’m pointing out how the Tiger II Early certainly wasn’t very good in comparison with other 6.7 heavies.
I don’t call it that because it’s a nonsensical name.
Indeed, and War Thunder’s meta = Mobility + first hit cripple/kill.
The T26E5 is more responsive, has better mobility, superior armour and still has the ability to one-tap a Tiger II Early from the front.
Yes, please tell me more about how the Tiger II Early’s armour isn’t complete and utter garbage:
Even guns a full 1.0 BR below you will overmatch your turret roof and one-tap you.
‘‘Mobility is at least 2/5. 1/5 is Maus/T95/Black Prince level of slow where you lack acceleration and top speed, KTs have 38 kmh top speed with an average cruising speed around 30.’’
Sorry but no average cruising speed is around 20. the only time you will get to 30 is either downslope or on VERY long straight stretches with road, fully upgraded. the normal tiger 2 is truly atrocious in terms of mobility. the v16 version is marginally better. it fully deserves the 1/5 rating.
‘‘Gun handling is 4/5/ Sure the traverse is a bit slow, but you’re on a very stable platform that allows you to shoot on the move.’’
You aren’t gonna hit shit with it on the move what’s with the small bumps, granted it doesn’t rock as much as something like the m41 but it’s not that stable at all. it’s 3/5 tops.
‘‘Armour is 3/5 for KTP and 4/5 for KTH. Impervious hull front with only the turret being a major weak spot is great. Idk why you only rate “the part that gets penned” and not the big picture.’’
The porshe tiger’s turret is completely worthless, an easy 1/5 on it’s BR given the fact it’s not any more mobile than the normal KT, On the H version it’s 3/5 tops, plenty of things can pen 200mm on 6.7, hell even on 6.3. T26E1-1 can easily cut through it on the same BR without any hope of ricochet
‘‘Firepower 5/5 no question needed.’’
Sorry but no. like the gun is good but 230mm is all the pen you can get out of it, you can completely forget about using APCR, literally never in my life have I ever done anything remotely useful with APCR even when shooting it at flat armor I should have penetrated, hori-production being a clear example. This is different from american APCR which is actuality useful and doesn’t mysteriously disappear upon impact. this is also at the point where vehicles are beginning to trade armor for mobility so while yes, you get good pen, it’s mostly excessive in it’s BR and useless in uptier.
I’d call the gun 4/5. it’s pretty damn good, but there is a lot it overpens and a lot
no
it has the same fuse sensitivity and delay or lower compared to most US and russian guns at the BR
if you ovepen something with long 88, you will also overpen it with US 75, 76, and 90mm along with the russian 85mm
while the russian 100mm and 122mm have a worse fuse sensitivity and will overpen more
so yeah, I feel like you dont really know what you are talking about
edit: and guess what I see when I check what vehicles youve played:
and because I bothered checking heres this too
At least compare it to T26E5/T26E1-1 if you want to compare them (granted it will still be faster than KT, it’ll make you comparison looks more sensical).
Idk what this have to do with “speed rating”. Not like T28/T95/Black Prince/Tortoise all exist around that BR anyway.
Idk why T-34 and T-44 are on a different “rating” while both are identical in mobility/agility.
You’re the one making the “rating” with only 5 levels… That’ll make the range wider.
Suspension matters as well mainly when braking.
Nobody aims there because that’s the entire point, reducing your weak spot to just the turret.
And firepower.
A T95 gets one-shot by a Flakbus frontally anyway… Not everything is supposed to be invulnerable.
When hull down only. On flat open terrain both sorta has the same amount of weak spots since E5’s hull has the majority of the weak spots.
Legacy name, also easier to shorten (KTP, KTH, KTH Sla, KTH 105).
Tbh I’d rather have KTP stay at 6.7 while KTH and T26E5 go up to 7.0 (KTH 105 and if T29E3 ever gets added both to 7.3). But alas, BR is compressed in the end. So unless we get some more decompression, I don’t think it’s feasible.
That’s not overmatch, that’s just spaghetti code volumetric bullshittery just like how an Ostwind ignored my M60A1’s mantlet.
Stat shaming doesn’t help arguments.
except when it blatantly contradicts their claims (such as it does here with the false statement about overpens from KTH)
and for subjective claims, a players stats are directly relevant (again true here)
It doesn’t help in a sense that it effectively acts as if you’re attacking the person instead of their arguments.
