The difference is those vehicles weren’t added in the same patch which is something you fail to comprehend, the F-111 will most likely be a end of the line ground attacker and why waste god knows how many hours when you could get the F-16.
You need to look at it from another prospective.
The reason people play the Bf-109 is because of WW2, it was famous and most people generally know it but that’s the opposite for this ground attacker. It may be popular but not as near as the Bf-109. Another reason some won’t play is something I like to call a “skill issue”, this applies to most aircraft buses that are generally miserable to play cough cough Tornado.
A ~50km all-weather bombing range would help the F-111 survive Missile Thunder. Bombing Strategic Bases and ground AI while outside of opposing SARH missile range (BR depending).
Popeye and Harpoon missiles could also help in that regard.
And I’d be curious to see how War Thunder would model the F-111C’s 30,000lb internal fuel load (~2,000km combat radius)…“Dump and Burn” for the entire match…

I’m guessing that photo was from RAAF Amberley (near Ipswich, Queensland). Too much greenery for RAAF Tindal (Northern Territory)…Note the Eucalyptus trees…Reddit identified the aircraft as an RAAF F-111C.

You’re just arguing for the sake of it, all of this proves what? That the F-111 is better to grind over the MiG-29SMT, F-14B or F-16C? We all know which one is the obvious pick but you’re just being outright ignorant.
I’m not saying don’t add the F-111 because it would be “cool” in the sense of what it is but I’m saying it’s long overdue but I guess you forgot what started this.
It would basically be dead in the water once introduced now and its only use would basically be ground realistic which shouldn’t be the case. Aircraft should be able to play their own game mode without suffering and if added prior to all these MiG-29 and F-16 shenanigans it would be somewhat good.
There are many vehicles a player could get over the F-111 (which was my point) but this drifted away from the main argument, the F-14B for example is great in both CAS and air superiority but on the other hand the F-111 is only good in CAS and this will always remain whether you like it or not.
From memory, the F-111C’s standard combat load for roof-top flying was full internal fuel, and up to 12,000lb external stores (movable wing mounts only). The F-111s could carry 12,000lb of ordnance from RAAF Tindal to East Timor and back without refueling. Proved to be a useful asset for diplomatic negotiations. The RAAF’s F-111s were also cleared to carry nuclear weapons (loaned from Britain). A primary requirement for Australia’s Canberra replacements (in case our neighborhood became too intense).

Im on the fence about getting a RAAF F-111 in the TT. Would be an interesting and cool addition, (i’d probably fly it quite a bit) but feels maybe a little unncessary alongside the Tornado Gr1. I can see it coming as an event vehicle though.

Any of the Su-17/22 family is just outright worse than the migs. Hell while we’re at it why don’t we just skip straight to the F-35 since nearly everyone is getting one?

But since you’re clearly too stupid to see where it does have a place I’ll tell you. Enduring Confrontation. Much like the F-105 which it replaced and like the F-15E which replaced it, it is blisteringly fast on the deck which makes for great diving in and knocking out a couple of key bombing points before the interceptors find you. Once the ordinance is dropped it is fast enough to cut and run home, or sneak up and snag a kill or 2 on a fighter or knock out a surveillance plane. Crazy how you can play a vehicle to its strengths through objectives instead of just pretending you’re an airquake god.

Sorry to inform you but I generally play trash vehicles like the Tornado F.3, SU-39 and T-55 (at 11.7). I never usually play overpowered vehicles and only play vehicles I find interesting like my J-7 but I guess you wouldn’t understand.

And how many times do you play enduring confrontation? Yeah and what about the MiG-29 doing orbital runs locking onto you and chasing you across the entire map.
It would actually be pretty decent in simulator but that’s because most people have a skill issue in that specific game mode.

That’s what most people thought would happen when the Panavia Tornado was first introduced but look at the state of that aircraft, I mean it would basically be identical besides the elephant in the room (F-111 is a literal bus even compared to the Tornado).

Do you even play War Thunder? You should know that it usually takes over 2 months to perfectly balance a vehicle, most propeller planes being introduced are different variants of already existing vehicles so balance wise it wouldn’t be that hard. The difference between jets are that they are usually fresh and require lots of consideration and effort to balance.
And on top of that the more modern CAS vehicles we receive the much harder it becomes to perfectly balance it, you’ll have to take into account the planes trash (usually trash) flight performance, A2A capabilities and it’s great ground capabilities.

Yeah. I discovered in past War Thunder matches with my F-4Es, CCRP marker bombing either drops one bomb or everything. The limited batch drop button rarely works. Considering the F-111’s possible payload options, in one pass I’d either scratch a Strategic Bombing target or blow it to Mars.

That is a bug, Disable weapon selection (using the “Exit selected weapon mode” control setting) and bomb series will work fine. Other option is ripple modes (“Secondary weapon ripple quantity”), but they are little restrictive
Yep. The bomb series option / button. I have since become quite adept with rapid-tapping the space-bar (single or paired bomb release), and not using the CCRP marker for dumb-bombs.
I woke up today and immediately saw a supposed “leak” that the Su-24 would be coming in the next patch, and while the leak is pretty much bogus, I couldn’t help but draw comparisons.
The Su-24M can carry the Kh-59 which is TV-guided and has a range of 40km. While not more advanced than the Kh-38 we already have on the Su-25SM3, it is still far superior to the range of the Maverick we have as a counterpart. So I went looking into the F-111F to see if anything in its arsenal would be comparable.
To my surprise, the F-111F can carry the AGM-130, which while having many classified features, is rated to have a maximum range of 75km (the exact range is also classified). In addition, the F-111F can also carry the GBU-10 that we already have in game, the GBU-15 itself and also the GBU-28 which is a 4000 lb LGM with IOG (in my opinion, the best feature to face the Pantsir-S1).
With that, I come to reactivate this thread with the question, isn’t it time to add the F-111F to the game? It may be an aircraft that not many people talk about, but it was the most successful attack aircraft of the USA during the Gulf War.
