- Missile Loadout: The B-70 was designed to carry various missiles, including the GAM-87 Skybolt ALBM and SRAM (Short-Range Attack Missile) internally and on underwing pylons.
Why though? It was only arned with nukes
No it wasn’t “only” armed with nukes.
It has 3 bomb bays all capable of carrying conventional bombs.
and for which interest? giving MiG-25 something to intercept at high altitude?
which are only AGM’s (Air-Ground Missiles), both being Nuclear warheads
And about the conventionnal payload options: nothing was ever done in that regards.
only 2 bays , and 1 should have been replaced to carry Fuel tanks (because at the time, the fuel consumption was a problem for long-range mission it was designed for)
Auxiliary fuel tanks are optional. B-52 has the option as well as B-1 Lancer.
the production variant was only planned, and i don’t recall any weapon test on board the XB-70’s
so anyway, it would be “hardcore” to get hands on correct payloads options.
It never leaves the prototype state, so it was never called B-70, it was XB-70 Valkyrie. I saw the last prototype in the air force museum
Okay.
We’re not talking about a production aircraft, we’re talking about a prototype which could be similar to Ho-229, Kikka, etc.
The correct options would be Mk80 series of bombs most likely.
oh yes of course it would be such series,… but how many? what type? how are they arranged in ?
what are the Mach2+ speed trouble of such drop (as it was planned for the aircraft to be used by the way)?
see? so many things that are going to make such aircraft in trouble,… even more because all Mk80’s were forbidden to be used over Mach 1 which is in direct opposition with how the aircraft should have been used.
that’s also the reason why both listed A2G weapons are AGM’s and not Free Fall B-43’s or B28’s and alikes

it exist on aircraft of superior BR, check the F-16
Because that’s an aircraft limitation, not a bomb limitation.
Which is based on the flow of air beneath wings, which is different from aircraft to aircraft so they have different restrictions.
well, then it would be fun that Gaijin adds air effects in the game then,… we could see people destroying themselves with their own bombs,…
the F-16 FCS does prevent the release over a certain speed,… which the F-100D or F-104 doesn’t,…
but in game a bomb drops without trouble at anyspeed, because air effects aren’t modelled
remember though that XB-70 crashed with F-104 because of air-effects
No, the F-104 crashed into the prototype because the pilot didn’t see his exact position and then he comes to close to it, crashed into the wingtip and after he flippes over it and destroy even more and they think the flip was because of the vortex
Man I really hope gajin sees this forum. The Valkyrie could really be a great addition to the game
