Should War Thunder add the B-70 in war thunder

well do we have a photo of the bomb bay ?

F105 must be immune cause it drops mach bombs

XB-70 never had bombbays,… current bombbays are planned stuff that never seen light

oh okay assumed the prototype had one never mind then any blueprints on the plane show what it would look like

that’s the problem : the aircraft not being completed once, bombbays were never trialed, therefore any problems could appear and no new/modified weapons would have been fixing those problems.

to my knowledge, blueprints of B-70’s doesn’t shows any freefall conventionnal bombs.

the XB-70 is a pretty large aircraft, displacing a lot of air,… that’s the reason why i’m convinced that B-70’s would have heavy restrictions in the use of conventionnal freefall bombs such as Mk80’s serie.

the Nuclear weapons that were planned, were all AGM types, Rocket-propulsed and guided : clearing a lof of potential problems, thanks to guidance and propulsion systems

so,… it’s unclear to me that B-70 would ever be planned to use any freefall conventionnal bombs.

Slight bump to this post, but I’d rather not make a new one and get it shut down.

The XB-70 would be a super cool addition and would align with the alleged bomber rework. I see it being placed at 11.0 (the F-111s should be foldered and the strike eagle should go to the strike line).

As the forum mentioned, it only would have capability for missiles. I don’t see too much of a problem with this, although there would have to be some artistic liberties taken. I am not too well versed on American payloads — was there any other kind of feasible AGM/missile with a conventional payload that could’ve realistically made it onto the B-70 if it entered service?

Gaijin has done plenty with paper vehicles in the past (R2Y2 to name one) and vehicles that never made it out of the prototype stage (Horten 229, Kikka, etc). Why not add something that flew?

Realistically, it could take GPS guided missiles. It would also get plenty of people in fighters to stop bombing as much — forcing people to actually play.

Even though it would be an effective bomber, it would be an insanely large target and a sitting duck if caught slow. This makes for a good balance that rewards skilled gameplay.

Anyways, I am open to discussion on any ideas anyone else has.

No it could not, GPS was not invented back then

Ok, was just guesstimating. What guided it’s planned missiles then?

The proposed missile never even left the paper stage and little is known about.
Most probably a inertial navigation system for guidance so good luck hitting anything that ain’t stationary.
Or not the size of a small city.

Works for me — I don’t expect it to be competent in ground battles. Should work fine for air.

problem - no missiles ever planned were conventionnal payloads

and no information on any bomb-bays, because the prototype never had one

AGM-65 / AGM-12B / AGM-12C (limited number)

still no information on any bomb-bays, because the prototype never had one - so hard to define a number.

differences are that those exemples have been rid of for players that didn’t owned them/start research on them.

on the same belief, many nations could get game-breaking aircrafts,…
i have one exemple in mind :
Nord 1500 Griffon-2 that was only prototyped but flew a lot and won aeronautical prizes - it was an alternative to the Mirage IIIC series - it’s a dual engine (one normal Jet Engine + 1 Stato-engine) in a Fixed Canards + Delta wing configuration. (so good AoA/nose authority)

since the variant that flew never had any radar or weapons, it would be using your “artistic liberties”.
the Griffon-2 could then be given (without modifiying the general known shape of the aircraft):
2x DEFA553 30mm (150rpg)
2x Magic-1 / R530E(but no radar one) missiles underwings
maybe flares/chaffs (Mirage IIIE)

imagine this, with the weaponnary i’ve listed:

results of this is an Interceptor/Fighter aircraft of 10.0 BR with a much better acceleration and max-speed (similar to MiG-25PD,… going to rip fast at low altitude), but able to dogfight as close as the Mirage IIIC

so,… basically a beast than never was in real life.
so i’m quite against the idea of adding XB-70 because of how many shades Gaijin would have to clear out, and the number of doors that would be openned for prototype stuff.

Loud and clear. Good reasoning here. Not gonna lie, I only really want it because it’s my favorite plane.
