According to sources, the Yak-130 carries R-73 missiles, but it doesn’t have them in War Thunder; I assume that’s to avoid raising its BR, though it would be nice to have air-to-air missiles for self-defense, since relying on just 120 rounds of ammunition makes things pretty difficult.
Prefer having the 9.3 CAS option than a subsonic with only R-73’s and no countermeasures
I’m a bit torn on the lack of CMs TBH, the Israeli A-4Es at the same BR have their CMs and only 1 less TV bomb (and sidewinders, but only Bs)
It will be better as 9.0 arb / 9.3 grb jet. R73 might raise its br to some insane levels. It wont have any flares still. And I dont trust r73s anymore.
Where would you place it tho?
But its nimble as hell and has ccip for rockets. So you can theoretically sacrifice 1-2 bombs for s13/s25 and just snipe aa from 5, 6 or even 7 km if you can spot them. This is what I also like about it. It has diverse viable loadouts, not just meta “grab walleyes or suck nuts”.
One more thing. It has no rwr.
That’s the problem; it would raise the BR significantly. But at least the R-60 or R-60M—even if it wouldn’t be very realistic on Gaijin’s part—though I’d actually prefer countermeasures over the missiles
Fair enough, I just think the CM pods would be nice, and shouldn’t really hurt its BR.
But there are still the Yak-131 and 130M that can be added to cover different BR ranges and capabilities.
tbh, keep this one at the br is at and add smth like the yak 130 late with flares and r73s at like 11.7 or smth
This Russian webpage (Óãîëîê íåáà ¦ ßêîâëåâ ßê-130) states it can use r60 as well.
Translated paragraph:
I guess it can get r60 but I feel like gaijin will give it 9.7 or even 10.0 in grb.
I would too but I think it will be too much compared to skyhawk for example. Nimble trainer with up to 4 fnf and cms will just render a4e completely useless imo.
Upd. I dont know why but forum just turned page link into some weird gibberish.
No, the A-4E’s ability to snipe with Bullpups through the TV camera from extreme ranges still makes it better
I prefer fast pop ups. Especially considering you can get thrown into same cage with osa, asrad or roland which wont let you snipe people from far.
The OSA with 12° of radar elevation? Still easy to snipe from long distance
Thats more than enough to spot and start tracking you as soon as you spawn. This strat relies on intelligence of aa player. Lack of it actually.
Nah, its really easy to get into the massive blind spot. Or you can just get closer and exploit the glacial turret traverse. Or just lob a Walleye from long range. Or just gun it down.
Honestly one of the most profoundly non-threatening AA’s in the game
But once it locks you, you arent getting in any blind spots.
Yak130 excels here.
It takes time and aa can shoot them down with ease.
Not talking about osa only. Roland, asrad too. They have much better turret traverse, smoke grenades (roland can search and track through it) and can pop targets in ranges where osa struggles.
They can lock all they want, doesn’t mean they’re hitting me
It really doesn’t
This is getting way off topic anyway
They will once you start guiding bullpups with agm62 camera.
It does, skyhawk is subsonic bucket that does need time to reach proper altitude and speed.
True.
Reconsidering my thoughts about the vehicle; Would be nice to have some sort of better offensive capability in form of R-73 infra-red missiles and countermeasure wing-tip pods for that reason, but even, the countermeasure wint-tip pods alone would greatly benefit the vehicle which this is in-fact a way to defend itself in a regular air battles match. The R-73 IR air-to-air missile would just increase its battle rating to a unnecessary spot.
May, or may not—seeing how Gaijin implemented Yak-130, the Yak-130M may be added to address those issues that the vehicle itself now did not needed to have. Hopefully Yak-130M capability on advanced weaponry are released to the public, at the moment it’s just a grey zone between marketing at actual capability. Note: Yak-130M had its maiden flight a few days ago.
