Should the Ka-50/52 should receive "Severe Damage" when losing their tail?

Just a general QOL thing but I believe all helicopters, regardless of their Damage models, should be given Severe Damage when losing their tail. If an aircraft can lose a wing and get severe damage, then all helicopters should be given the same treatment with their tails, including the Ka-50s. I know losing the tail doesn’t affect flight performance too much on the Ka-50s, but only getting a critical hit and having someone else get the kill isn’t exactly fun.

Can it still fly without a tail? i thought they packed some electronics in that region, so it probably hinders it a lot. Although, the kamov is still wierd, i’ve seen it eat a spike LR, get severe damage and still continue spamming rockets

Helicopter DM’s are really weird.

Be it in a 64D or Ka52, I’ve have times where I’ve been absolutely shredded, almost every module red / black, yet still inexplicably maintained controlled flight.

Equally often though, I’ve had times where even a single roof MG makes a singular module go yellow / orange and I drop out of the sky like a brick.

I think there needs to be a lot more consistency in this regard before we can start assigning what counts as ‘severe’ or not.

I believe losing the tail completely on any helicopter should count as Severe Damage, not just the modules inside.

That’s fair.

I’d just like to see the damage (and its effects) be more consistent.

As per my example of often dying to a single MG round, in impact terms, that hit was severe as it is sending me towards the dirt. If I’m then hit by a missile or something which causes more catastrophic damage on my way down, the guy who hit me with his MG is essentially getting his kill stolen.

Things like losing a tail, rotors snapped and engine/s destroyed should always be severe imo. My wider point is just with how whacky the damage consistency currently is, what is and isn’t severe is often very counterintuitive.

Don’t know if same for Ka50 but think there is RL video of Ka52 flying with no tail. Maybe Ka50, no Ka52 (would like the chance to fly it without tail when I get there).

I don’t believe there is anything vital in the helicopters tail, it should still be able to fly and operate, however its flight performance may decrease a bit.

The ability to fly without a tail is a unique feature of the KA series, and I like when unique features of vehicles are modeled in game. I think every vehicle in game should have a reason to play it, and am generally against things that diminish that.

I have absolutely no issue with its ability to continue flying without a tail. I would just like for it to credit someone who shoots the tail off with Severe Damage like it does with other helicopters.

Given that aircraft can take full-blackened horizontal stabilizers and qualify for severe damage, despite it having zero effect on flight performance with mouse aim (and nothing you cannot trim out and compensate for with full real controls)…

There’s no reason for the tail being shot off NOT to count as severe damage. It technically even fulfils a similar role (stabilization)
