Play what planes you enjoy and like.
Out of my 928 hours playing this game,
I spent around 400 flying planes like Bf 109 F-4, F4U-4, P-51C, G.55 Sotto 0, Bf 109 (G, K) and so forth. I flew them yesterday, I will fly them this weekend. I fly them in other games too.
My jet age planes are prolly like 20-30 hours tops, and that is with nuclear thunder included.
If it’s jets that appeal to you? Go for it.
If you only want to get jets because “theyre end of the tech tree and having jets makes me feel accomplished because I feel like props are tutorial”? Nah. Give props their decent chance. Maybe even give TSS a chance for your props (War Thunder Tournaments).

First off play what ever nation you like, Sweden is fairly limited for options though.
But beyond that I would say no, don’t try to rush through to jets, if you are focused solely on progression you will burn out far faster, especially if you are not using premium time/ vehicles.
Early on just focus on playing through the ranks and building core skills, if you just power through to jets with base bombing or ground pounding you will have a very bad time when you get to the ranks you want to play and discover you have not developed the core skills like energy management or positioning.
You might also miss out on BRs and planes that you really enjoy playing.

I like sweden because of that, its not massive and has jets that I like
same with props
A good way to actually grind a tree is to spade some of the vehicles as you go, as you get RP bonuses from doing so. It gives you a good oppotunity to try out the vehicles/BRs and Learn some of the core mechanic before moving higher
