You’re right, we got the likes of Pangolin and Warrior over there who go on tirades whenever someone mentions something negative about CAS.
Both US and France have good vehicles at different BR’s, and although Abrams is generally considered better France also does have a couple later versions and next gen MBT to look forward to. So does the US. The US also has a lot more vehicles overall with many additions left across all BR’s. US CAS is generally solid across the board, France does have some standout CAS like the F4U-7 with SNEB and Rafale with AASM IR (which should be nerfed soon) but across the board I’d take the US for CAS even though it isn’t the absolute best at each BR it’s consistently solid.
US 8.3-10.3 can be kind of rough though for actual tanks from what I’ve heard there are a couple decent vehicles but until the Abrams it isn’t really good.

The US is solid for the most part, I agree there. The biggest issue is their SPAA line. Not very many good choices (looking at you Chappie), but the good SPAAs are amazing (LAV and the CLAWS).
Also, 8.7 mark does have some decent tanks, I quite enjoy the M60 tank (even with that massive pimple that is food for HE shells), plus as you said, they have solid CAS, so it evens itself out. American Ground is more known for its CAS capabilities than being “competent tankers” but that is also my opinion.
As you said, very solid tanks all across the board, but you’re better off being a supporting tank until you get enough points to call in CAS.
France gets Leo 2, and I’ve heard ppl say the Ito SPAA is pretty good.
Oh, the ItO is an excellent piece of kit. Not as powerful as the Pantsir, but can do pretty decently within 6km. Wasn’t until recently they could take down ammunition.
Great thing about France at top tier is you’re basically a better Sweden: get two good Leopards, ItO 90M, and a far better CAS plane in the Rafale.

The long answer:
US and France both have strong BR clusters and extremely weak clusters. France has more payoff BR clusters and US has a longer painful grind from 4.0 to 6.7
Early france is straight pain until you get to 2.7. Utterly terrible vehicles, some of the lowest win rates of any brs for any nation in the game. You get a bunch of great US vehicles until you start to come into the truly unique vehicles around 5.0 to 5.3. The SA-50 is amazingly good and the ARL 44 has amazing firepower on a reasonable chassis. From 5.3 you jump to the AMX-M4 and a bit of painful grind because there are only 4 tanks at rank 4. France 8.0 is amazing though. 8.3 and 8.7 were both very competitive and surprising in the quantity of utility. After 8.7 you don’t have much worth playing though.
US gets… not much. Hellcat is fun, but lacks a strong supporting list. 6.7 has a good lineup of heavies but the grind to get there is extremely long due to the number of tanks you have to go through. 7.3 is where US shines. T32 is the heavy tank every other heavy tank wants to be. The T95 is a lot of fun if you get used to it and the M163 has finally hit its stride after dropping to 7.3. US 8.3 looks strong, but a lot of the tanks are very underwhelming. Once you hit the 9.xs though there are a lot of interesting and cool tanks to play.
Correction:
U.S. gets ALOT. Its just that 75% of the tech tree is either screwed by compression (M4A3E2 76)
placed unreasonably high for no apparent reason (M26)
doesn’t fit any meta (M551)
is the worst variant Gajin could’ve added (T95E1)
or is plagued by so many bugs that Gajin for some reason refuses to fix that it’s just awful (Abrams).
So only a small portion of the tech tree actually sees use.

Again, this game does not reward you for playing the game. I run a full line up, I can play the game, I just understand why other people don’t. Don’t act like you’re holier than thou just because you’re some limp wrist wanker that treats this game like real life. God, I bet you use Andrew Tate talking points too, “victory is fun, and I only play for victory” and expecting everyone to play like you.
Again, nobody cares about your W/L ratio besides other weird limp wristed virgins that use stats as a “gotcha” to win arguments.
Want to play like a team? Go make some friends (I know, it might be hard for you to find someone who will tolerate you, but just try not being yourself for five minutes), make a Discord, and you all can roleplay Papa Gator and splash some tango bandits with your fox threes. Just don’t expect everyone else to care about your stats and how you play.

For the record though… I too dislike the idea of not caring about teamplay and not caring about winning. Gaijin might reward winning (barely) but they sure as hell don’t reward teamplay.

I understand, I get frustrated when everyone is going Rambo and I’m trying to be a team player. Gotta love it when you drop down and try to get a plane off your teammate’s tail, just for you to be ambushed by three other guts and nobody is helping you.
Nothing in this game promotes teamwork. The best you got is “Attack the D Point” and that’s the end of communication. If we were able to use proxy chat, that would be one step closer to an actual team play game. Instead you have a terrible grind, terrible attachments to grind through, and terrible, monotonous gameplay that is basically: Spawn, fire, die. Spawn, fire, survive.
Arent french tanks better than Abrams’ with this new, lame turret basket mechanic? France also has access to two helis with F&F missiles. Add in the Rafale with Hammers… I’d say it could be better than current US lineups.
It is nice not to get shot and immediately lose my horizontal same with italy ;) Italy and France resurgence for the win before they get the turret basket treatment.

Well doesn’t looks like Gajin plans to add more baskets. It was just to pwn US and Ger I guess :) No baskets for Ru or any other faction, it seems. As long a LeClercs have no basket mechanic, they ARE just better.
I’m not quite there yet. I’ve unlocked some of those and researched them but haven’t bought them. I like the spade before moving on.
