I don’t play ground but a friend of mine who has played most trees told me the French ground tree is really not beginner friendly and aweful to play if you’re not good
At least at lower tiers

I enjoyed both through about BR 8 (Realistic). Above 8, US became painful and the pain hasn’t stopped yet.
how about the top tier like leclerc
It’s good from what I’ve heard but the grind takes a while so might as well pick a tree you’ll have fun grinding
But people usually talk really good about the leclercs

Abrams is the stronger of the 2 MBTs, but beyond that cant really comment too much. Though the US does have other advantages too though, like the US has a top tier IFV, France, basically dont have any

Depending on what you need or what type of gameplay you prefer these may vary, in my opinion France is the best option for: diversity (excluding lower tiers); shorter research time consumption and it’s cool. Jokes aside, there are few things thats makes France a good option and in my opinion is that isn’t beginner friendly. Regardless if you know basic’s War Thunder ground vehicles, it’s a must-have tech tree.
Leclercs despite their problems are nice tanks to play and the Leclerc MSC may be the most confortable option at the moment: the vehicle never had any composite armor but it does in-game, with this we came to the double standard while Arietes do have composite armor in the chassis but not in-game. Adding the French air fleet, should be somewhat fun either to use as ground support or air defense.

What a faction offers, and how they end up getting treated in match are two different things.
If you want pain, go for US. No one is going to really tell you that because they don’t want to admit it.
Your teams will be awful. You will constantly lose. The M1 is not what people are saying (not the fist one at least). You will be absolutely slaughtered over and over with little gain.
If you don’t want to heed my warning that is fine, and hey maybe that won’t happen to you, but I’m telling you what it seems like no one else will.
Of course they are going to reply to me and start things with me. But I’m being truthful with you.
You can also play both but I don’t know what your time budget is for gaming. I play all the factions but that’s because I have no life right now.

I’d prefer the Leclerc over the M1 Abrams but it’s a personal option of mine since technically the M1 Abrams and its vast options are far superior when compared to any Leclerc we do have in-game.
You mentioned the Trophy APS, despite this feature I doubt you’ll get much if it doesn’t get fixed, most active protection systems doesn’t seems to work properly as the Community says.
When comparing the M1 Abrams to the Leclerc you have: mobility, armor, firepower in favor for the M1 Abrams; though for Leclerc you have: layout, ‘troll’ armor (some times you can block some stupid shots on the turret specially), power-weight ratio (offering better acceleration) and solid 6,0-seconds autoloader.
Despite the M1 Abrams having an human loader being capable to reduce the reloading time up to 5,0-seconds, some times the autoloader may be a better option, specially for lower skill level crew. As I said M1 Abrams is much superior and it’s my own personal choice for preferring the Leclerc.
wut do u think when Leclerc received turret basket?
If it does recieve the turret basket as horizontal turret drive mechanism it would affect alot the survivability of this vehicle. Something that is a unique feature is this capacity of being rather empty inside,
Type 10 and Type 90 MBTs does have this same characteristic which boosts alot the survivability and due to the thin side-on armor, you may, perhaps, recieve low damage compared to vehicles with thicker (80 mm or more).

When compared to the M1 Abrams in this current state the Leclerc may have better survivability, if it does recieve said change, it may be on par or inferior due to the reduced crew size of three crewmembers when compared to four crewmembers on the M1 Abrams.

I have both nations and I advise you to go for the Abrams, by far. Already in terms of the lineup you can create almost in all BRs and especially in top tier, the Leclercs have nothing more than a good Abrams. The 5 seconds of reload on the Leclerc you have on the Abrams with AS crew. On the US side, you have good CAS, good SPAA, good tanks, and good light tanks. Saying that the Leclerc is great armor is a joke. After all, it’s just another nation, but if you want a good lineup, I advise you to go with the USA. That’s just my opinion.
