LOL yeah you’re right, game’s a complete mess right now.
On the regard of the Tas the prototypes were not completed to my knowledge. But in exchange we have the 8cm gunsight surviving to this day.
There’s quite a few vehicles that never existed past the mockup stage but have basically the majority of their parts completed as they were taken from other vehicles, you can start going down massive rabbit holes. Gaijin if they accepted this would need to set some massive rules and stick to them.
Since this topic is sorta related to that, I thought I might ask y’all for your opinion on whether you think the following vehicle could be added (according to suggestion moderators I asked, it would qualify for addition);
ET/3 (1980)
So you may be wondering where the turret is… Well it was never fitted.
But it requires some context;
In 1978+ Oerlikon-Bührle, together with Blohm & Voss proposed a retrofit for the aging Jagdpanzer Kanone, by modifiyng the hull to fit Oerlikons new GDD-A turret (which was also offered for Marder, however in that case with almost no modifications to the hull).
In order to trial and test the turret for the Bundeswehr, Oerlikon received the hull of the marder prototype RU 362, aswell as JPK-BE (Belgienausführung).
While the GDD-A turret was fitted to RU 362 and trialed on it in 1979, the ET/3 was still being modified.
However, after the modifications done to the hull had been completed, oerlikons proposals had been formally rejected by the Bundeswehr by 1980. The ET/3 hull never ended up receiving the turret despite being fully modified to do so by that time and was scrapped later on.
The turret itself was fully functional and tested on other vehicles, the hull was also functional.
The finished vehicle would have looked like this:
The original JPK-BE (Belgienausführung) looked like this;
The Oerlikon GDD-A turret was fully functional and tested on (at least) RU 362 aswell as a MOWAG Tornado Mk. 3
(here on RU 362, circa 1978)
(on MOWAG Tornado Mk. 3)
So, do you think the ET/3 would be an acceptable addition given that the hull was rather heavily modified specifically for fitting an existing and fully functional turret, despite said turret never being mounted on ET/3?
There are several aircraft that never made it into service I would like to see in game, like the TSR2, but I dont think it is necessary at the moment to add every single paper vehicle. Especially as it would be innevetiable that one nation would benefit greatly from it and the other 9 would not
Bottom kinda gives me TC 200 vibes
Yep, that would be perfect :D
Oh most definitely. The suggestion moderator wouldn’t accept it anyway if it wasn’t, but since a majority of the parts existed, it is more then viable
As far as I suspect, Gaijin seems to be upholding a rule of Two of Three: If two of either the hull, turret, or gun existed with proven documentation for their fabrication, the vehicle is considered “real” enough.
Which is why I think and hope we’ll see the KV-3 some day, since both the hull and the gun existed, only the turret wasn’t entirely finished. (The gun is in the game already anyway, on the KV-2 ZiS)
Blueprints and prototypes are very different things. I support the latter only
I think paper vehicles could work provided they were in their own tree/gamemode. If a few of them were introduced in something like the April Fools event, I could see them coming to the game in the aforementioned format.
