Should awkward to balance vehicles be balanced by era?

Basically to explain. Should certain vehicles that are only good at one thing be placed at their closest era of vehicles?

To give the example, The f117. It’s gonna perform about the same (more or less) no matter what br we put it at. (Let’s say 10.0 for now)

This change would at least give it’s stealth some actual use and would keep early jets from seeing a fairly modern stealth aircraft, keeping the somewhat historical immersion we have left.

There are a few other vehicles aswell we can discuss such as the a10’s/su25’s and others.
Thoughts?

Also might change the title to something better if you guys got suggestions

I dont agree with putting planes at a br where they will have almost no chance at doing anything.

Its stealth has little use since your plane will have big red letters over it.

It isnt a historical sim game so this isnt a factor. Sim could go that route but air rb shouldnt be given the precedent.

They need to revive sim so it can have a place to do its thing.

Maybe you could call them awkward to balance vehicles?

The a10 has many tricks but it has only its speed holding it back.

The 117 already has no chance to really do anything at it’s br except run away or bomb a tank or 2.

This really only works if the 117 is close to an enemy a.i. or player. The 117 shouldn’t be that close at all tbh.
It’s stealth would at-least work against semi active/active radar missiles, giving it a bit purpose.

Can’t argue here really. Do wish it was more of a factor though.

Like this?
(Should awkward to balance vehicles be balanced by era?) or like (Should Niche vehicles be balanced by era?)

At a higher br, it wouldnt even get there.

With the current system, unless the f117 is head on, it will get picked up. If they rework the stealth, then maybe.

Im always down for events but, judging by the historical events we had, it would make regular mm awful.

Maybe this is better. If you only talk about the f117, then niche works. But i dont think the a10 is niche. Imo

True, But also. If they give it a bomber/ground attack spawn, it’ll be able to get to the side’s of the map or to a base first. (Or a new role specific spawn)
Might open another discussion on whether the snail should give certain vehicles their respective class spawn’s at higher br’s.

True, hopefully within next year or so lol.

Also agree with the rest. Maybe if we had more game modes that were actually balanced SNAIL! Some historical mode’s could resurface.

If MiG-15s and Thunderstreaks can find it and shoot it down without a radar, why would it be any different if it faced planes with much better performance?

The thing is a one-trick pony. I almost feel bad shooting them down with the AIM-9B or R-3S. It has no place facing SARH and ARH missiles.

IDK if you guys agree with me, but this is a concern I’ve been sigins for at least 10 years.

The issue with stuff in War Thunder is that everything far away becomes a black dot.

No matter the paintjob in the tank, and no matter the grass you put on top. At a certain distance, the tank will be a black object in the middle of a no-grass field. (Its even worst to Ships)

The paint jobs are specifically designed to blend the machinery with the field, making it hard to spot.

I dont really know if its because War Thunder lacks the athmosferic conditions, or its something intended in the game engine, but most of the times you can even see the black sillouete of a plane even trough the clouds.

Unless you can completly hide your Udes behind a wall of bushes, no other visual effect can hide you from the enemy. Thus, stealth planes will never be stealth in War Thunder.

What historical immersion?

BR decompression and reworking the gamemodes would make these vehicles more useful.
But we all know that isn’t going to happen.

I can understand why BR compression is a thing but I have no idea why they are so firm on keeping the gamemodes as they are now.

Maus tanks fighting vehicles from 1990s

No. None of the vehicles you listed are awkward either.

This was fixed years ago.

Proof of how good Maus is. Time the vehicle was created =/= technology of the vehicle’s capabilities.

I definitely agree with you.

From the air, tanks just completely stick out like a sore thumb from the terrain. It get’s even worse at distance when tree’s, walls, fences, grass etc hasn’t rendered in properly. Just a bunch of little ant like black dots moving around. Can even clearly make out people driving through woodlands. Very unrealistic.

When it comes to aircraft, a similar thing happens. They are a very noticeable black dot at distance, but when you get within a couple km, they just seem to vanish. Strike drones are most annoying for this. I look at them in 3rd person in my SPAA and it’s black dot. I switch to my actual gunner optic and they quite literally vanish.
