For over 6 months now the suspension on some of the shermans equipped with the HVSS suspension have been broken. Lacking the proper travel and appearing and acting like it was more or less seized in place or at least way too stiff. This also resulting in the affected tanks appearing to “stutter” when in place and bouncing around unnaturally from even small obstacles or rough terrain. Also causing the sight to bounce up and down while in sight view.
The affected tanks are (as of posting this): M4A3 76(W) (USA TT version and “Hell” pack version), M-51 and M-51(W)
While the M4A3(105) and the M4A3 76(W) in the Japanese TT work as they’re meant to. Making it easy to test it. Additionally -none- of the HVSS shermans have correct working suspension animations.
This issue has been reported over 6 months ago and not been acknowledged. And because it wasn’t fixed earlier the bug now also affects the new -premium- M4. Had been hoping that since it’s a premium there’d been an effort to fix any underlying bugs before it was released.
most tanks including VSS and HVSS shermans have too much suspension travel in game and are often too soft on spring rate, the overlord pack seems to have gotten this more correct.
the hell sherman itself is broken yes but it also should not end up like most shermans in game to be right
This is the fastest and most effective way we can track your bug reports just fill in the matching fields and back it up with sources and/or source images.
speaking of this, i have a bug report regarding the suspension on the CVR(T) tanks alongside a few other issues which haven’t been accepted for getting onto a month now. is there anyone I can message to get them looked at?
There’s been a bug report for the suspension stuff for over 6 months already so just trying to bring more attention to it to hopefully get it fixed before another 6 months passes.
That may be the case(that the JP one travels too much) but it’s mainly to quickly show there is a huge difference between the suspensions on the US and JP one. And like I don’t belive this is how it’s supposed to be
Like there’s zero travel even with more or less all the weight on the middle bogey nor do the other two drop down even a little even though there’s no weight on them.
And this affects gameplay and how different the US(and the m-51s) feel compared to the JP one. It’s like driving around in a toy tank that weighs nothing. Bouncing around withouth the suspension doing anything to even try to smoothe anything out.
Compared to something like even this(this is just a super quick example I saw)
Edit: I also realized that the suspension might look exaggerated on the JP one because the bogies don’t pivot/move/tilt at all like they’re meant to do on any of the HVSS shermans in game. They’re just frozen perfectly horizontally.
One thing with gaijin is that they are consistently inconsistent.
the exact same suspensions, engines and transmissions as well as the perception of a vehicles weight while in motion can behave completely different even on a C&P vehicle
My best guess is that the hell shermans suspension spring rate got borked somewhere and they forgot to make sure its physics took weight into account. animations being old or non existent often makes it appear worse too
for example here’s CVRT scimitar, its meant to only have 8 inches of travel and have stiff torsion bars but it in game gets near double.
Yeah the suspension on the US TT version has been borken like that for over 6 months now, at least it was reported back then. So it kind of feels like the Hell pack one inherited the bugs/issues since I assume they used the TT one as a base(which ofc is the sensible thing to do).
Cant speak for a TT HVSS sherman other than the m51 as I don’t play USA but the sherman firefly in the Overlord pack has a stiffer more responsive VSS compared to the polish firefly or tech tree one. its very strange
