Shenyang J-11BSH (WS-10B3)

China Military Online / Fu Jinquan, 12 February 2026. The official caption identifies this aircraft as a J-11BSH.

Hello! I would like to suggest the Shenyang J-11BS (WS-10B3) for the Chinese aviation tree: a combat-capable, twin-seat Chinese Flanker combining late Taihang engines(WS-10 series) with the J-11B family’s radar and weapons.

Introduction

The J-11BS is a two-seat development of the indigenous J-11B, designed for operational conversion and combat missions rather than basic flight training alone. Chinese military reporting attributes beyond-visual-range air combat, precision ground attack and electronic-warfare capability to the type.

The central reference for this suggestion is the official photograph above. Its original caption identifies a J-11BSH serving in PLAN. The naval suffix is retained here when describing the photographed aircraft. This proposal selects the WS-10B3 engine configuration based on comparison of the visible nozzle features, while distinguishing that interpretation from the official aircraft identification.

J-11BSH with WS-10B(series 3)

The intended in-game vehicle I’m talking about today is the J-11BSH MLU in the photo published by Chinese Navy with Type 1493 series Radar(Judging from its black Randome) and WS-10B(series 3) Engine.

History

The J-11BS was developed from the J-11B to provide a domestic, combat-capable two-seat Flanker for pilot conversion and frontline service. Compared with the earlier Su-27UBK, it introduced Chinese avionics, a digital fly-by-wire system, a glass cockpit and integration with Chinese weapons. The second crew member could share navigation, radar and weapons-management workload.

Public reporting has shown J-11BS aircraft participating in air-combat training, exercises and ground-attack training. A China Aerospace Studies Institute report, citing PLA television footage, also records J-11BS ground-target training at the Harbin Flight Academy.

Alongside its service with the PLAAF, the twin-seat design also equipped Chinese naval aviation as the J-11BSH. Like the single-seat J-11BH, it was a land-based aircraft rather than a carrier fighter, bringing the two-seat branch of the J-11B family into naval service.

The J-11BS also appeared in public reporting on international military exchanges. On 24 September 2017, during a joint China-Pakistan air-force exercise, Pakistani Southern Air Command commander Major General Haseeb flew aboard a Chinese J-11BS with a Chinese pilot. The flight provided a publicly documented example of the type in service with an operational PLAAF unit.

The aircraft subsequently remained visible in both military training reports and public aviation events. At the 2025 Air Force Aviation Open Day and Changchun Airshow, a J-11BS performed a solo aerobatic display flown by Wang Chen and Yan Zhongyue of the Air Force Xi’an Flight Academy. Their accompanying CCTV interview discussed conversion to heavy fighters, crew coordination and training in beyond-visual-range combat, radar and fire-control operation, illustrating the type’s continuing place in fighter-pilot training.

Place in game

In War Thunder, the proposed aircraft would combine stronger propulsion with a legacy mechanically scanned radar and PL-12 missiles. It could offer a high-thrust, two-seat heavy-fighter playstyle broadly comparable in concept to an early F-15E in Air RB, without assuming identical performance, sensors or strike capabilities.

I suggest placing it after, or foldering it with, the J-11B. A squadron-aircraft implementation would also be possible. Battle rating should be sitting around 14.0 in air RB(like F15E)(In client version 2.59).

Armament
  • 1 × 30 mm cannon

  • 10 hardpoints, with the following proposed weapon options:

    • PL-8B infrared-guided short-range air-to-air missiles

    • PL-12 active-radar-guided beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles

    • 250-3 and 500-3 general-purpose bombs

    • 250-4 and 500-4 retarded bombs

    • GB250 and GB500 guided bombs

    • LS-6 250, LS-6(IR) 250 and LS-6 500 guided bombs

    • S-8KO, S-13OF and S-25O/OF/OFM rockets

    • Kh-29TE television-guided air-to-ground missiles

    • LD-10 anti-radiation missiles

    • YJ-91 anti-ship and YJ-91A anti-radiation missiles

    • CM-102 anti-radiation missiles

    • K/ADC03A targeting pod

Proposed implementation: use the in-game J-11B weapon set as the baseline. The list above is a request for game implementation, not a claim that every listed store has been photographed on the aircraft shown in the main image.

Official reporting supports the J-11BS’s BVR and precision-strike roles. Extending individual J-11B weapon options to this suggestion is a family-based implementation proposal and should remain labelled as such. This suggestion does not request PL-10 or PL-15.

+1 but only if it’s classified as a “Strike” Aircraft

The previous decompression moving the J-11B to 14.0 and the F-15E to 14.3 in ARB, so probably 14.3 for the J-11BSH now
