Is the R73 carried on the fighter?
OP can’t talk because he hasn’t played in a while, so I am messaging for him:
“Type 1474 came from one of the books I used as a resource, but since there has been much debate over it, I dug a little more (that I probably should have in the first place). I was wrong about the radar, but I have no intention of playing the game in order to edit my post. Thanks to everyone, - @thethrill820”
3 Questions:
- Gen2 RWR means SPO-15LM right? so the J-11B still need to guess the riddle : ( no way…
- Any sources can show that J-11B still have the ability to fire russian missles (e.g., R-27ER/ET R-73).
- And i wonder about its ground strike capability. Any guided weapons?
In that photo its wingtips used ‘L-shaped’ pylons, which are designed to fit the PL-8 series AAM.
This looks more like PL10.
According to the production time of J-11B, RWR is more likely to be KJ8602A.
Are there any Photos/Documentation of this?
Here
Thank you
Suggestion Updated
Changed the Radar to the correct type. Type 1474 → Type 1493. Thanks to everyone.
While doing more digging it may actually be in fact Type 1474. Im going to do more research before i call anything however.
So confusing
It’s most definitely 1493.
1474 would imply that it is a 700mm diameter-class radar. Why would Shenyang replace 1000mm N001 with that?
1493 is 900mm diameter, it makes much more sense.
I dont really know myself…
Lot of media says that it uses type 1474, but when i look for Type 1474, i find nothing except a overview with no backing.
I would keep it 1493 for now.
there are many copy and mix articles, 1474 should come from an unknow ancient garbage article.
1474 would imply it’s a radar one generation newer than 1473 on J-10A.
If this was an actual designation it might be referring to a mlu upgrade for the radar of the J-10A, or even J-10B’s PESA.
But this is just me speculating. It probably doesn’t exist in the first place.
Does anyone have images of how the J-11Bs cockpit should look like? It’s a pretty big thing for me as I occasionally play simulator.
@TPS_Hydra Though this might not be exactly what it looks like, this photo is from a prototype irrc.
