They’re basically saying there are side arrays in addition to the 60(70?)± frontal one, which increases coverage to the sides. Technically would make it 300 deg radar according to the source
But of course, we’ve been bamboozled by AI before and I do have my doubts about a completely flat array even if on the sides with no gimbal going beyond 180

well the plane shows no indication of side looking arrays or anything like that, unless the radar is very far forward in the radome, so i doubt it
isnt that just the SU-35 cockpit for the most part
that is not the radar of the J-16 tho, thats a proposal for the JF-17´s radar
and this is a news article iirc, ive not read anything regarding the J-16´s radar at all anywhere else

I think the KLJ-7A variant was presented in connection with the JF-17 Block III as a possible choice, as the other guy also said.
So proving that it can theoreticaly use the radar doesn’t mean they actually use it in the J-16
Well radar is ngl the best we are gonna get, the missiles par the missing PL-10 and PL-15 (for balancing reason), id be grateful that we have the PL-12AE even as gimped as it is since that missile isnt even in service according to all sources
