Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

Hello again, i finally managed to get to the J11B, and i noticed this

I don’t know if this pylon mismatch is correct or not, i assume not so. I’m planning on reporting it if it hasn’t already been; does anyone have information on which of the two pylons is correct? (J15T in-game uses the russian looking one [right side])

So a surface search showed me that the left pylon was spotted on a tandem seated chinese flanker,

i feel the j11BS should have been the premium for china would make more sense to me as its a domestic chinese plane could be the same 13.3 too tho shouldnt but neither should mkk or mk2

Carrying this over to the CN thread to see if you guys have any sources.

I’m trying to find the weight of the J-11/Su-27SK.

pilot: 90kg;
oil: 30kg;
ammo: about 60kg;
CMs: about 96kg.
I don’t remember the source very well, but a certain manual states that the Su-27SK’s basic empty weight is 16,870 kg, and its operating empty weight is approximately 23,430 – 5,270 – (253×2 + 105×2) – (the weight of the AKU‑470 for the R‑27R, 90×2) = 17,264 kg (with the wingtip pylons retained). The difference between these two figures includes, but is not limited to, the pilot and his gear, engine oil, unusable fuel, coolant, gun ammunition, and countermeasures.

Edit: Some Chinese publications give the operating empty weight as 17,240 kg, which is basically consistent with the calculation above.

Ahh, I see.

I was going off figures given from Sukhoi and a Su-27SK manual and got it down to ~17,075 kg.

The remaining weight includes oil (30 kg in the datamine), gun ammunition and countermeasures (60 kg + 92 kg, these are values I measured in test flights and may not be exact). The other 23 kg probably consists of various in‑game ignored weights, such as coolant.

That would make sense.

Thanks for the help!

Seems like they changed PL12A, maybe they saw all the suggestions to move the J-15T down in the BR changes thread along with it’s bad stats at 14.7.

These changes will not solve the core problem of J-15T.

Even if they buff the PL-12A the flight performance and low amount countermeasures will still play crucial role in gameplay.

Will do more for the J-10c tbh

Oh I know, but now Gaijin can at least pretend that they helped it by buffing PL12As.

(although imo any buff is still better than no buff at all. The J-15T still needs any and all the help it can get.)

Oh yeah that thing will be really nice.

Slightly unrelated note, but does anyone know what the “distance from CM to stabilizers” change does for the PL12s? Is it a buff or a nerf?

@MythicPi can u explain the distance from stab to cm thing

PL-12 just got a fair amount of nerf to its Pull and the PL-12A got a small booster buff along with the pull nerf and increased weight, in short Pl-12 got nuked and PL-12A will perform slightly better long range but worse short

They gave the PL-12A a 13% increase in total impulse while completely ignoring the photo showing the engine compartment has been lengthened by about 22%… let alone the increase in specific impulse from the propellant.

should be tourqe

imo revert this, its not worth the trade off if the PL-12A buff is this minor (i think this is their attempt to fix the wobble too)

Damn so pl-12 went from third best hobs fox 3 after r77/1 and mica to like 6th… looks like about on par with derby/worse than aam4

atleast top speed is better now i guess? and at long range TTI is 3 sec´s faster (for the 12A)

another pull chart rip base PL-12

But Gaijin seems to think that air weighs more than avionics… The PL-12A extended the fuel section while shortening the guidance section and warhead, yet Gaijin appears to have added 7.2 kg to the missile body after all the fuel is burned off… I don’t even know what to say.
