Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 3)

I don’t think it was there at the time chief. But, even if it did, you’d die to F-15 in a stratosphere launching 8 AMRAAMs regardless of using SM or 11A

Remember the dark days of t10 fm

Definitely was, here’s defyns patch day review which it has the dl channels indicated on radar

True dat, altho back then I was super new to top tier.
I just mostly played the mirage 2k instead of j11a, and then finally ground out su-27sm a bit after eurofighter/rafale came after getting mig-23ml and Ariete for Christmas

Hmmm, I’m thinking the node is much more nothing burger than it seems, there’s no bottom mounted node that we’ve seen so I’m skeptical of it being MAWS.

My guess is maybe a better GPS system for UMPK/UMPD/etc? Schizotheory, Kinzhal integration to Su-34 inshallah

Speaking of, still waiting for all the missing UMPKs and shiz.

Are the Su-27S and SK weights correct in game?

in WT 27S is 16.42 tons empty (Unless it’s on Min Fuel instead of empty, which I guess would make sense), according to the Russian Knights it should be 16.3

https://russianknights.ru/en/su-27/

Now this isn’t really too egregious, but apparently the 27SK (J-11) is half a ton lighter than it should be???

https://web.archive.org/web/20110716144832/http://www.sukhoi.org/eng/planes/military/su27sk/lth/

I looked up the weights for the 27R1 and 73E, found they were 253 and 105 respectively, so I subtracted those twice along with the fuel weight and got 17.44 tons…??

Now I ASSUME the J-11 doesn’t actually weigh 17 and a half tons, considering that the weight may vary according to Sukhoi.

But if anyone has an good source for the exact mass for the Su-27S and J-11 I’d really appreciate it.

here is part of the table from Su-27SK manual.
Calculated take-off weight of 23250 kg with 2xR-27 + 2xR-73, 5090 kg of fuel and full kit of nonremovable avionics + canon with 150 rounds

It’s still giving me 17,444 kg when I subtract it all. :p

Maybe my weight for the R-27 or R-73 is incorrect?

R-73E data from Rosoboronexport site states 105kg.
R-27R every place i looked at states 253kg
But that is just missile, we probably have to count pylons as well, for example, i found info about AKU-470 being 90kg, which is almost quarter of a R-27 weight
APU-73 weighs 49-50kg from what i could find

That took off a decent bit of weight, but it’s still sitting at 17.17 tons…

*I made sure to double C-F when calculating Empty Weight

I also asked the CN Flanker thread for any sources on J-11 weight.

Don’t forget 90 kilo of a pilot (gaijin just uses 90kg as a standard pilot weight)

17,075.

Maybe we just wait and see what the CN guys have to say? I have no idea what else we could remove.

Also atp it’s only a 175 kg difference.

unless base weight takes min fuel load into consideration.*

Conceal carry R-73 in case of emergency under pilot seat

in case the pilot crashes and needs to fight off a very big, flying bear.

Does the base weight in game refer to empty weight or is it no weapons + min fuel?

and here is statshark for comparison

oh yeah i like totally knew that.

how do you find that on statshark? It isn’t in Global Vehicle Statistics of the FM Calculator, is it?

It is indeed, in the FM calculator
