Aim120 is not worse. We know exact propellant mass and we can see they put the improvement of the “+5” motor into bigger warhead which is irrelevant in warthunder but clearly something they valued.

PL-12A is question of sources, now that we got PL12A = PL12AE its gonna be just question of getting sources as that was the biggest hurdle

I do wonder if those are adaptors for NATO standard countermeasures for customers with mixed fleets, without dimensions it looks like both the 2x1" and 1x1" standards you’d find in a ALE-47 for example.

The image in this issue appears to be AI-processed. The PL-12AE model at the Zhuhai Airshow did not have a description card beneath it.

However, it’s important to note that the promotional video above the PL-12AE displayed an operational range exceeding 120 km, which cannot be achieved simply by extending the seeker’s battery life. To be honest, I really don’t want to see the PL-12A become the next AIM-120B in the game, as it would clearly suffer from insufficient thrust at engagement ranges around 20 km.

The 120C does not simply increase its range by extending seeker battery life. It features noticeably reduced aerodynamic drag, clear off-the-rail maneuverability limits in its flight control system, a higher flight speed compared to the 120A/B, and improvements to its propulsion system, providing greater sustainment than the A/B variants.
To be honest, the in-game 3D model for the PL-12A is based on the PL12AE’s model.
The naming as “PL12A” is likely just Gaijin following the community manager’s logic—that the PL-12AE is merely a variant of the PL-12A—thus using the domestic “PL-12A” designation for non-export jets. This is similar to how the JF-17 uses the SD-10a in-game (where the in-game SD-10a is identical to the PL-12). However, the current PL-12A is essentially just a PL-12 (SD-10a) with a swapped model and a new seeker head.
