Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

Thats great and all, but quite literally worthless to implementation in-game, so my point still stands.

Source?

Common sense

Check out my posts on su27 thread, don’t wanna clutter this thread with them

Terrible reasoning

Not going to bother, China gets both so I won’t be missing out on anything, however don’t be disappointed when the J-16 does turn out to be a better all rounder in game

I think su35 will definitely be better. Yes china will get both which is nice

Both are wild claims when there is practically 0 available information on both lol

“Is my radar’s ability to function more important than being able to look to the side” come on use your brain

Again sure using common sense a fixed plate aesa will be better than a gimbaled one like on su35. But again there’s no evidence

Sub 10km fine, but anything past that and it’s fairly clear who wins that figbt

Bruh you linked as J-15/J-11B cockpit it has nothing to do with the J-16 its not even remotely similar

Not really. R771s are much better off bore and j16 will never be able to launch arh missiles because su35 can stay in notch while launching its missiles. And they removed launching arh from irst

Gimballing radars are efficient for large area sweeps and defensive BVR, something the J-16 is not required to do, as a result it priorities power and scan rate within it’s boundaries, being an AESA

Again where are you getting this from. Irbis e is already super powerful anyways

Su-35 because R-77-1 > PL-12 in WT

The top photo is J-15 and gives an idea what the MFDs will loon like, the top image is from a J-16D and shows about 1/5th of the cockpit, including one large vertical MFD on the left hand side

I’d be shocked if the J-16 comes with the PL-12, or at least the same PL-12 we have in game currently

You should do some research before posting random unrelated images and guessing

Its not a wild claim tbh, the J-16’s radar is likely better at everything except gimbal limit, seeing as fundementally, the Irbis-E is basically an upgraded N011M iirc. Chinese radars are likely as good or possibly better than most western ones at this point, and its a pretty widely known fact that russian radars have been for the most part behind western ones for 40+ years, if not effectively for as long as radars have been put into planes. The J-16 also sports and AESA, while the Su-35 does not, which doesnt matter much in-game, but does irl. Common sense would be that the J-16’s radar beats the pants off the Irbis-E irl…

That being said, like you stated, there is little to no info on the J-16’s radar beyond it being an AESA, so theres nothing to work with regarding in-game implementation, and in-game combat mechanics prioritize gimbal limit above almost all other aspects for radars, so the Irbis-E is likely to be king regardless of how it is irl.
