Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

The primary air-to-ground missile is the KD-88, supplemented by the stealth glide dispenser AKF-98A, while the core anti-ship missile is the subsonic YJ-83K, and the supersonic YJ-91 with its dual anti-ship and anti-radiation variants.

It depends cause stuff like RD33 have like 8 tonnes of thrust, some even claim up to 9-10t on various posters but realistically its more like 6-7.

there should be much more than these, but it’s hard to know as they usually don’t show them to the public.

Quick question, do we know if any of the J-15s have plans for engine upgrades?

There’s J-15’s using g both AL-31 and WS-×× engines

Same goes for all variants as far as I know

The mounting is the same but the UFIC is different. And it has different MFD’s and small Square one on the right and some button panel on the left

From the images I can find it seems to match pretty well

looks very western, like a combination of eurofighters and f-16 hud

Why do people hype up the j-16 as a premiere air to ground platform when it’s only useful weapon that’s probably not gonna even come in game is the kd 88, seems like it’s much more geared towards air to air

well, basically you are right. the reason of this thoughts is that J-16 is the first truly multi-functional jet is PLAAF, and it’s replacing old CAS plane like JH-7A, but before this, it is still a great air to air plane(not so extreme as J-11D)

Can j-16 use any of the Russian air to ground stuff

I think no, or simply not needed, only some KH-29 and KH-59 was brought for SU-30/35 long age, no chance/need J-16 can use these

Traditionally, CAS missions for the PLA have been primarily handled by armed helicopters, whereas fixed-wing platforms like the J-16 are more often tasked with SEAD and battlefield air interdiction. In this role, the J-16 can carry a greater number of larger, long-range munitions. It should also be noted that the J-16 is the PLA’s first truly modern multi-role fighter, while the J-10B is more heavily oriented towards air superiority, and the Su-30MKK/MK2 suffers from specific radar performance limitations.

This is the best view of the J-16’s WS-10B we’ve ever seen im pretty sure.
It might be old I’m not sure when it was released

Also anyone more knowledgeable on Jet engines what’s the parts that’s been blurred? And why

Our local Sukhoi engine knower was banned, so no

I’m sure there’s others here that know.
I’d guess it’s the gearbox but I’m unsure as to why it would be blurred

Probably stuff like an Oil or Fuel pump

engine control parts
it should be an old WS-10B
you can find similar things in any jet engine
