I can say with absolute certainty that this weight figure is incorrect, because the calculation I referenced in the J-10 thread was based on an early‑batch J‑10C retrofitted with the WS‑10B engine, which came out to around 8.7 tons.

Yeah, let’s move to the J-10C thread and get the weight problem solved first. If WS-10B weight goes down it will also help the J-15T.

I also have some doubts about the weight of the J-15T. It’s known that the original J-15 has an empty weight of around 17.5 tons (conservatively speaking, let’s assume this is the bare empty weight). Although the J-15T has a reinforced nose landing gear, the overall landing gear is shorter, and its airframe weight reduction measures are more extensive than those of the original J-15. Therefore, its empty weight should be comparable to the J-15’s, or perhaps slightly heavier, so a figure between 17.5 and 18 tons would be more reasonable.

Part of the reason is because of the weight gain from WS-10B, I think.
Which is not accurate as WS-10B is not heavier than WS-10A.

It’s never an easy process
The problem is we really don’t have too many sources we can use for fighters like the J-15T, which only entered service starting from very late in 2024.

We know much more about the J-16, heck. We know more about the J-20.

with all the knowledge we have, its difficult to accept things as they are now, Im not even the biggest fan of chinese TT, I just want everyone to have good and competitive planes

This is why imo Gaijin should make changes if they are:

  1. Reasonable to expect given the technical expertise of the era available to a nation.
  2. Do not significantly alter the balance in favor of the nation.
  3. Supported by at the very least, anecdotal evidence.

The current model of needing exact, very precise sources when pretty much everything is classified in the modern era just doesn’t work out well.

Given its late service entry in 2024, another implication is that the J-15T should logically possess the most advanced radar in the game, likely derived from the same technological baseline as the J-20A. Consequently, its real‑world performance figures might be quite astonishing—some unofficial source claimed two to three times that of the early‑batch J-20, which would translate to a detection range of 400‑600 km against a 1 m² RCS target. I’m really curious what data Gaijin will end up giving it.

By employing some clever interpolation of data points, Gaijin has managed to avoid replicating similar performance traits for the AL-31F series, while painstakingly “faithfully reproducing” these characteristics for the WS-10.

I don’t deny that 96 rounds are sufficient, but 48 rounds are not. There’s a clear boundary between 96 and 48 rounds that significantly impairs gameplay feel, and the J-15 has crossed that boundary.

For now, it still has the same booster as the basic PL12; it seems to me that the PL12A has a more powerful booster, the same as the PL15
