Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

Impossible to know if they’re the same since we don’t know what radar either one has.
And the D was canceled

Given 2011 vs 2024 I don’t think it would be the same anyway, might be ‘planned’ to be the same but never ‘the same’

do any j-16s still use al-31?

I haven’t seen any images of J-16’s with AL-31’s apart from really early ones

never

If or when we get the J-16 in game it would be very interesting to see the Yings-III get its IRCM feature

How does the J-11B radar compare to others at its BR? I remember hearing that it was a big step up from the Old Flanker radar. So like, what’s it comparable to? The F-15C? The 29SMT? The F-14?

I don’t play any other nations so i cant compare with others, but i don’t have any complaints about it, it does what it needs to do without issues

1493’s radar mode in game is a copy of F-15E’s APG-70, the performance is between APG-70 and captor

Sweet, ty

Pretty sure it copies all of f-15e radar scan patterns.

Probably every single Chinese radar from now on will be some form of copy paste/frankensteining of other radars, I don’t think gaijin can access any info on scan patterns or the such

Yeah that’s probably the case.
The JEFF3 if or when it’s added has some information available but still no scan angles and such

usually an ESA radar can provide 60 degree beam synthesis angle, but JF-17 Block3’s radar is not fixed, so it can scan and lock over 90 degree like SU-35

That’s cool to know, if tought the JEFF had a fixed Radar, thanks for the information

is it mentioned that it has a swash plate or has high azimuth coverage ? , su35 has an azimuth coverage of ±120*

no, we have to do some assume

±125*

iirc search azimuth is ±125* n track is ±120* right ?

yeah. in wt you’re gonna be mostly in tws so ±125 most of the time
