Tbf it doesn’t take a lot to beat the flankers FM
i just wonder how much wing loading is gonna affect j-10c, it’s around 1500 kg heavier than the j10a. while yes it gets more thrust it’s still gonna be somewhat a fat pig. altho imo, it’s still gonna be better than any chinese flanker for air to air
Spoiler
Around 1450 kg heavier than j-10a
This is the J-11,15,16 thread not J-10
Was the J-11BG made before the J-16?
I was looking into the source of the image people use for the J-16’s radar
This one and I found it’s from a paper called “modern radar” dated september 2012 so wayy before the J-16 was revealed or leaked.
And it mentions its passed environmental test and flight verification. So it’s been used before 2012
So question being could it actually be the 11BG/D’s radar?
First flight of the J16 was around 2011-2012 so still possible
J-11BG was made after 2017.
According to data provided by the Pakistan Air Force, the WS-10B has a thrust of 144 kN (~14,700 kgf). With the J-10CE’s empty weight of 9,750 kg, this yields a rough thrust-to-weight ratio of 1.5077. Most PLA-operated J-10Cs use the AL-31FN Ser.5 engine with 14,000 kgf thrust, resulting in a thrust-to-weight ratio of 1.436. Gaijin models the J-10A with an empty weight of 8,300 kg and thrust of ~12,500 kgf, giving it a 1.506 thrust-to-weight ratio. This reveals that the J-10C holds no advantage in thrust-to-weight ratio. Moreover, its significantly increased empty weight would undermine the maneuverability that the J-10A excels in. Additionally, based on data released by the PLAN, the J-10C’s maximum speed has been downgraded to Mach 1.8.
This engine appeared literally only in 2024
Does anyone have the source to this document? I’ve looked for it but I’ve been unable to find where it comes from
All I can find is this but I can’t acess the document to verify it it’s the same https://d.wanfangdata.com.cn/thesis/D02608004
ws-10 still has much better high altitude performance than al 31f no? at least that holds through for ws-10a, not sure about ws-10b thrust curves but should be similar to ws-10a no?
It can carry 2 extra PL-12’s aswell so it would have an even worse TWR with a full loadout
wait, china doesn’t have double pylons for pl15? was those double pylons on the j20 pl12s?
They do, but no double missile pylons were ever seen on chinese Flankers, only J-10s and J-20s.
does the double pylon on the j-10 carry only pl-12s, was just surprised clap said pl-12s specifically and not the pl-15 for the j10
sorry, i shouldve specified the middle double pylon for the j10. never seen it with pl-15s, looks different from the normal double pylon
It was shown only once, but I do believe it can use PL-15 as well.
The double pylon looks different because it most likely had to be narrower for space reasons, meaning that the two rails (as with the R-77 double pylon) had to be offset from each other to provide enough space, otherwise the tail fins might collide - thats atleast my theory.
mainly because the new intake design. J-10A’s adjustable intake is better in high speed, while the DSI intake is better in lower speed and benefits stealth.
with J-11B, PLA no longer need J-10 to do the high speed interceptor job
it is listed in Saturn’s financial report, the part about engine sales, so it’s actually sold
though I can’t find the original report
not the same document.
WS-10 has much better performance at
high attitude and high mach, but the new DSI intake not.
Got it. Thanks ill keep looking
