Does that talk about STR, ITR? or the like.
No
Can you explain what it is please? Is it an engineering textbook?
Perhaps a link to its page on publisher/seller’s website?
Features of the Design of the Su-30SM Aircraft Control System…
Textbook for the Moscow Aviation Institute… Publishing house MAI (Moscow Aviation Institute). Moscow 2019
So essentially a secondary source
With figures that don’t match what the manufacturer says
This is the only source I’ve found that directly provides empty weight data. If you have a more credible and direct source, please share it.
I immediately assumed it was from the Book…
There will be no primary sources for a long time (there are now about 540 Su-30MKI/MKA/MKM/SM/SM2/SME in the World)…
The oldest is 20 years old…
So as primary sources appear on Rafale/Typhoon, maybe then…
Therefore, for Developers, the game of this book, among other things, should be enough as a source!..
The T-10M used a wing from the Su-27UB
Wait, wdym a wing?
Translation error
There is no cope in here about sino flankers except from the sino patriots claiming absurd things like their aircraft have empty weights of 17 tons… That’s nonsense.
can someone please explain to me why are we talking soooo much about russian sukois when the thread name clearly stated that it’s " Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion"?
yes in the original post there are mentions of china getting the russian bought planes but it’s not part of the core thread, this is for chinese made planes so stop posting about stuff that is not in line with the argument of the thread and comparing is this better than that and bla bla bla
thank you
Basically this is the theme ‘how can J11/J16 be so much lighter than Russian equivalents’. My guess is part of this is China used composites, so did Russians but Russians chucked more stuff like fuel tanks on so heavier. IDK which stats are real though.
I guess around 18t is reasonable from that calculation
The J-11 uses the Su-27’s airframe, it is literally the same plane at first. Why would there not be discussion on the similarities and modifications of the flankers? They don’t even change the name, “Flanker”.
Without discussion of the Russian counterpart there can be no discussion of the Chinese flankers. It just doesn’t work that way.
The Chinese use less composites and the engines are heavier, it is not honest discussion to claim the sino-flankers are lighter than the latest Russian counterparts. I fell for this propaganda myself in the past. Open your mind, look at the materials available and make your own conclusions from what you process.
I remember I explained this before, Russian standard of engine empty weight is significantly lighter than others, it’s not about wrong or right, but it can’t be compared unless calculated in same standard.
You made the claim but so far has been unsubstantiated. The person who works at sukhoi made it clear, the equivalent AL-31 model is lighter than the WS-10.
