Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

I think they might add pl-8B or PL-5E2. Damn, why is it so difficult? I don’t seem to want to play against Fox3 on a su27, but I don’t seem to want to play with only two normal missiles on a j-8F. If he had a pl-5E2, he would have bought a talisman for it without hesitation.

We honestly need to bring this back to light, that being the absolutely ridiculous BR placement of the J-11A at 13.7.

The SU-27SM which also sits at 13.7 recently received the AL-31F-M1 engines during the latest major patch, this officially makes the aircraft better than the J-11A in almost every single sector yet Gaijin is too scared to move the J-11A down.

With the recent addition of the SU-33, it received the MLU package which includes a new RWR and a MFD in the cockpit, even this aircraft is superior to the J-11A besides missile potency at 13.0, I should also mention it gets an additional 2 pylons making the difference between the J-11A and SU-33 missile wise negligible.

The J-11A seriously needs to move down to 13.3 or the lowest, 13.0. The difference between the J-11 and J-11A are near indescribable minus the “crude” addition of the RVV-AE and the redundant MAWS.

The J-11A is such a forgotten aircraft that even Gaijin forgot to give it the detailed cockpit RWR when modelling the SPO-15 for the SU-27 and other aircraft.

13.7 → 13.3

What is the difference or is there none?

Is it just the MAWS? (J11A top and J11 bottom)

Edit: They’re the same, sorry I though you were comparing Su-27SM and J-11A

The additional external circle represents the MAWS found on the J-11A, three circles shows that the aircraft also has LWS like found on the Eurofighter.

I made a report 6 days ago, it was acknowledged but it’s still incredible that gaijin forgets J11 and J11a

Well, J-11B Block 2 was passed to the developer, so lets hope it will be added in reasonable timeframe

Hopefully, the next version will see J11B/J10B that only exists in leaks

I might not surprised J-11BH from PLANAF instead J-11B (Early) for researchable tree because spec like J-11B Block 2, but J-11BH equipped tailhook

Battle rating 14.0, my guess

Would the J11B have better performance and thrust compared to the current SU27SM with the M1 engines? I know the J11B is said to be maybe lighter, but i’m not sure if the J11B has also improved thrust

WS-10A does have more peak thrust than standard AL-31F if Gaijin decides to model the post-2010s variant which solved many of reliability issues the initial batch had. It’s 132KN in emergency power, which is roughly comparable with M1.

Su-27SM is 400 kilograms heavier than Su-27S. The J-11 and J-11A is around 500 kilograms heavier than Su-27S due to the strengthened landing gear in the SK models. J-11B is said to be 800 kilograms lighter than Su-27SK.

So I think thrust to weight is comparable between J-11B and Su-27SM, at least being equivalent.

WS-10A has 132kn compared to Su-27SM 122kn irrc

The Su-27SM has Al-31FM1 engines in War Thunder now, in the current update.
It is 13.5 tons of thrust, 132.4KN
So it is comparable.

Oh ok

That is untrue. See this post

WS-10A has roughly equivalent thrust & curve to the Russian counterpart.

This is old, i have multiple sources that state otherwise

I was also mistakenly comparing to old Su-27SM engines

Feel free to provide them.

“Dragons Wings Chinese Fighter and Bomber Aircraft Development” by Andreas Rupprecht is one of them.

WS-10A thrust also depends on what batch it was produded in, since minor improvements have been made over time

Ruprecht is not a better source, he’s a German aviation enthusiast who gets majority of his information from online forums, media posts, etc.

The thrust in the source I quoted is the best source we have yet found for the engine. It shows a similar thrust curve to the Russian engines.
