It is better in thrust, but worse in resource and weight
shouldn’t it be lighter than AL-31F? according to this
No, and you’re showing thrust, not weight.
Looks to me it’s heavier
Also, china seems really behind on engines compared to Russia or USA back like 20 years ago
This is not the entire picture.
WS-10 family has evolved drastically in terms of reliability and thrust.
So it is not fair to say that current Chinese engines are bad.
Any slight improvement is an improvement.
China had poor development until the 70s-80s, they are still playing catch up with engine development.
Such is the case, but there has been both a development and a desire to improve.
If you don’t have any source or substance from which to discuss the engines utilized by the J-11 family please refrain from posting nonsense philosophy
Didn’t mean to reply to one person, this is for everyone
@kizvy 4th line is T/W, can get their weight in this same standard.
13200/7.5=1760 < 1,760.6=12500/7.1, though almost same, can be considered as no difference
I would appreciate it if you would word this less in a hostile manner, thank you very much.
You can ignore him. He loves Russian planes very much, and this is understandable.

Safe use time (between two overhauls) 800-900 hours [1]
This is the WS-10A related data I found, from Aviation World 2015, 1:22-49
Feel free to refute if there is a mistake, but don’t attack.
AL-31F 1520 kg 12500/1520=8.22
it’s because of difference in standard, some external parts aren’t taken into count in Russian T/W standard.
what are the external details?we are talking now about engines and the entire AL-31F is 1520kg weight of the WS-10 is about 1700
Maybe don’t be so obsessed with the weight of the WS-10A. At least we all know that the WS-10A has more thrust, probably more than 132kn, and the J-11B is generally lighter than the original SU-27, according to the data is about 700kg. So, eh, whatever one says, the J11B will be lighter and more thrust than the SU-27, and he will definitely be much better than the SU-27.
part of the transmission, fuel/lube inside the engine’s tube, instruments, part of the nozzle, these is not counted in Russian T/W standard, so in Chinese or English source, its weight is about 1700kg, and in Russian source, it’s 1520kg.
