Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

We need to prove the following things;

  • These are not there solely for transportation
  • These can be fired from the ejector pylons
  • The seeker can operate in the uncooled mode
  • If not, are they upgraded missiles of some sort?

Right now the plausible excuse for the photos is simple - the missiles are being ferried somewhere.
The fact that they can be mounted gives us possibilities, though. Proof the seeker can operate in an uncooled manner would be sufficient I think.

Only for transportation.

27T/ET can mount on AKU-470, but can’t fired.

Can you provide sources that state

this?

I doubt he can.

Do we know if the J-11A has dual Pylons?

I know they are a feature of J-11B.

Problem with this is we 1. can not identify it is AK470 2.Do not know what China modified on the R27/J11
I know it is unlikely but still. Thanks for the source anyway.

Will the late 12-pylon flankers have 4 ET?

It doesn’t say why, and clearly it is mounted on them.

only Su-35

Su-35 or Su-35S?

35S

Well at least we know China did some unqiue modifications to J-11A/Su-27SK.

This photo shows J-11A/Su-27SK carrying PL-12 in its central pylon which it wasn’t capable of in its original spec.

I think it is probably some kind of custom pylon.

Can anyone recognize the pylon in this photo? It looks like two pylons duct taped together, probably used to get around the store management system since Russian didn’t sell the code and Chinese is getting creative.

That is a training round of the R-27. It just has the wings removed.

I count the pixel, you are right, it is an R-27 without any fins.

Looking forward to seeing the J11B, a Chinese flanker that truly combines the aerodynamic shape of the Soviet Union with the Chinese weapon system! Then again, is there a nerf in the maneuver of all flankers in the game? As far as I know, the flanker should be very good in real life, huh?

The flankers in game aren’t maneuverable at all. They scrub all their speed as soon as they turn.

Flankers are underperforming by 0.2G in turn at pretty much all speeds, but Gaijin thinks the performance is “close enough” and doesn’t want to change the flight model.

Chinese modified SU-30MKK and MK2 with PL-8B and PL-12,
