i think the biggest positive aspect of this change is the timing,
doing something like this 6-7 weeks before the next patch is due suggests (to me) that they are very much aware things have to change, and are genuinely trying to do so
its good to see they chose to do something asap instead of waiting for the next major update (even if im not particularly enthusiastic about the change itself)

with a bit of luck we might even get some proper BR changes soon

Question; are there plans to increase the rewards for killing AI ships in Naval?

Currently, it’s not really worth it to engage them- it takes like 10 AI kills to get the equivalent rewards to a single player kill! So, when teams are mostly comprised of AIs, one just wants to leave, because you know that even if you manage to get 20 AI kills over 25 minutes it will still be just like 5,000 RP for that.

I don’t know, I will check later; but lady time I played Naval, player ships gave our 500-700 RP while AI ships were capped at 75 RP each or so.

I stopped playing Naval because even after wasting lots of money on Premiums and Talismans the grind was still unbearably slow! 25 minute matches at the top of the scoreboard were giving out 15,000 RP with Premium account and Premium/Talidman ships…

I did one match tonight

The rewards speak for themselves

but I do wonder if there is a bug where not all shells are registering on the bot targets. If im reading that window right. the player targets took 112 or 93 rounds respectively but the bots barely hit 20 rounds. Despite hitting most of those with way more rounds that. It makes me wonder if the rewards are much lower because its giving a partial payout of what should be the full amount.

But yeah, I was and still am concerned this change is gunna screw the naval economy even more, but if it was meant to be the full amount this entire time. Im almost more pissed becasue that is a HUGE amount of SL and RP that I never received

Why would coastal have a tax when the research costs are exactly the same as bluewater???

That is exactly the tax. The rewards are based upon being BR1-4 of naval as a whole (coastal+bluewater). The costs are based upon being end-game content for coastal.

Just look at the GE cost for a top tier coastal premiums vs a reserve tier destroyer premiums

HMS Whitby a 3.7 Premium Frigate costs 6090 GE

HMS Verdun a 3.7 Premium destroyer costs 250 GE

Coastal has stupidly low rewards but really high costs.

It would be like if a 3.7 tank cost the same RP/SL as a 12.0 tank

Great conversation and great data everyone. I implore everyone to continue the civil nature of this thread. I really like naval and the more we work together, the greater the odds are we get improvements/changes we all want and approve of 👍

I appreciate that Gaijin is at least acknowledging that the “1 point cap, 1 surface kill, 1 air kill in each game mode” battle task was needlessly infuriating to grind out, but frankly I’d much rather see ALL the battle pass tasks be able to be completed in any game mode the player chooses. Another problem with the aforementioned task is that it forces the air portion to be completed in Arcade because Air RB has no player-capturable points, and even further not all Air AB maps have capture points either.

Personally, I’d much rather have to complete 20 such matches in any game mode I choose (all in Ground RB in my personal case) than 3 in a game mode I enjoy and 6 total in two other game modes which I would never have/want to play otherwise, especially when those other two game modes’ completion conditions depend on factors entirely out of my control or skill as a player (whether the map has a capture point in Air matches and whether one of the very few players in a naval match decides to bring out an aircraft into AAA aimbot city in Naval, respectively.)

To be clear, I’m not saying that every task needs to be doable in Ground RB. I’m saying that every task needs to be doable in any theatre (Air, Ground, or Naval) at any difficulty level (Arcade, Realistic, or Sim) the player wants. Realistically that means that some of the tasks will need to be reworked or have multiple alternative ways to earn completion points that make sense for the different game modes.


On a separate note, I’m glad that some people do enjoy naval, but I feel that Gaijin needs to respect that many/most players don’t, especially in the current state the game mode is in. Spend your time fixing the Naval gameplay loop and balancing things so that more players actually want to play for fun, rather than forcing players to play something they already have no interest in and further reinforcing those players’ negative opinions. Gaijin is only making the situation with Naval worse for themselves by trying to force players to play a game mode they don’t enjoy instead of trying to make the game mode in question more enjoyable to those currently-uninterested players such as myself.

You think everyone plays to fight players? I don’t. I’ve never played to fight players.
I play to experience vehicles.
I have never played a PVP ship game before War Thunder naval cause there is no PVE exclusive mode for it.

Why do I mostly see AI using American, Soviet and German vessels (+British sometimes)? Do they spawn at different frequency?

Japanese ships are useless.
No guns (low penetrations, low damage and 25mm turret armor.)
No hull armor
No Air defence

I like the additions, but can we get naval rewards that are good once more for Ai? It used to be 80% of player kill SL, now it’s what, 40? 30%?
