Then give it 9M instead of those 9L, it faces the highest br with those things. Currently it’s been nerfed a fair bit as a result

yeah aim54 spam sucks now that it track u through mountains and kills literally everything on the battlefield before u can even get there. sure u can multipath but trying to kill anything while hugging the ground is impossible. hopefully they at least fixed the messed up airframe for the mlu
they were literally equipped with them upon being delivered. it should get at least aim9m
If you were talking about dealing with Phoenixes while flying something with a terrible RWR like the MiG-21 I would agree, but you get a top notch RWR in the F-16 and you are more than capable to fly defensively against the Phoenixes

Yes, yes it should, currently it’s absolutely outclassed by almost everything it faces and everything it faces in the main has superior loadouts. 9L and 7f against planes with 9m and fox 3 is not balanced at all, it’s a loadout we see on phantoms that’re lower BR and don’t face top BR either.
Why shouldn’t it be balanced with the matches it’s placed in? Saying “no it shouldn’t” just doesn’t add anything besides an empty opinion tbf

The F-20 still faces the same planes as it did before the BR changes. Having to fight Fox-3s in a plane without Fox-3s isn’t solved by putting AIM-9Ms on a vehicle that still doesn’t have Fox-3s. That issue has to be addressed through other means.
As a F-16 Jr the BR of 12.7 is definitely fair for the F-20.
The point is that giving it 9Ms at least undoes part of the significant merging it faced from its FM nerf (justified) and then in the updates since its introduction 9M and fox 3 have been added.
It never used to face such things and had a fair balance for where it was at.
It hasn’t been updated to reflect those changes in the planes and load outs it NOW faces yet has been moved up so it still faces those planes and load outs.
Part of the br decompression was suposedly to move the fox 3 slingers away for those who aren’t

I get that Phoenixes are annoying to deal with now with the lower Multipathing, but it really isn’t that hard.
Not getting any kills because the Tomcats take most of them just is a side effect of other issues, including the lowered MP threshold, the F-14 itself still isn’t that great of a plane.
yeah a side effect of other issues that could reasonably mitigated by either moving up the f14 or adding semi competent missiles to planes at tiers around it. id rather have missiles honestly - - instead of giving stuff like the MLU/ADF their actual missiles that would probably make the f14s role as a missile bus obsolete (aim 120) u could just add aim9ms and the issue would be mostly solved when it comes to phoenix dominance

The F-20 has the same air to air loadout as the now 13.0 F-16A ADF, just with 2 AIM-9Ls instead of 4.
It faced Fox-3s before the BR update and still faces them now because as you’ve said the update didn’t actually seperate Fox-3 planes from non-Fox-3 planes.
Vehicles don’t get moved down in BR when new tech gets introduced, as that would just make the BR compression even worse.
What would have to happen is a seperate matchmaker for Fox-3 planes to guarantee that Fox-3 carriers only ever fight other Fox-3 carriers.
It’s a 13.0 loadout minus 2 AIM-9Ls, the AIM-7F and AIM-7M are identical ingame
