WDYM the marder needs one weakpoint at least. Its got insane speed, a fast firing autocannon in a unmanned turret, one of the best frontal armor profiles with a unpennable upper front plate for even the strongest main gun ammo at its br and insane atgms that can kill everything it can see in one shot AND it can fire those on the move /s
Wait a second i think i mixed something up let me just recheck ingame…
The BMPT is worse in that there is 2 of them, one being premium so there are far more to deal with than there was PUMAs, and of course Gaijin is going to be more reluctant to up tier or nerf their new premium that is selling like hot cakes.
Ultimately it comes down to Gaijin not properly testing things before releasing them, all the issues with both the PUMA and the BMPT should have been identified on the Dev. server and fixed before going live. Once it hits live they have to up tier them until the issues are fixed, at which point Gaijin likes to just forget they exist and leave them horridly over BRed. Although the BMPT having a premium version will likely not get that treatment.
Changing a simple number instead of actually fixing such a tricky situation is just so laughably easy that its almost understandable. But yeah they got themselves in kind of a big mess by releasing the same broken vehicle two times, one as premium and one non premium so now having to do both but still somehow quickly probably aint too much fun. With people already having bought it for full price that are probably not too happy now that their newest beloved clubber maybe aint clubbing that hard anymore (sad yeah i know.)
Well they probably could do something about that to flatten the waves (increase the modifiers slightly for the premium version, because it will be fighting a bit tougher opponents now, refund some money or whatever) i dont really care i didnt buy it and didnt play the tech tree version i just stayed out of that whole BR range entirely cuz i knew what was up. But whatever, im not their public relations advisor (which if there even is something like that 100% sure doesnt exist at gaijin hq) but we also know that ain’t gonna happen anyways.
Now they also have to deal with their slight overview of accidentaly making the tech tree version simply better than the premium one as well or making the wrong one the premium version, like cmon how tf does that even happen?).
Would be funny af if it wasnt also somewhat sad to still get situations like that after 12 years of the game existing. (and in the PUMA situation having already experienced something very similar, Heavy armored “light” tank with fast firing autocannon from unmanned turret, at a way too low BR being decades more modern than anything it can see that is breaking its original BRs balance because it just wont die. Well, minus the premium ofc. Somehow they must have forgotten back then to simply add a copy paste premium PUMA as well. would have been easy money from later surprisingly pissed off customers. im afraid now no one would jump out of bed to buy a premium PUMA for 10.3)
Schrödinger’s Fuel Tank to the BMPT…It’s an “external fuel tank” that’s inside the under armor and has no armor around it…the Russians gotta win somewhere
I mean they are clearly outside of the 20 mm main armor which is the aluminium plate around the turret basket i mean autoloader i mean. What is it that the BMP-T has instead of the removed autoloader to 0 the chances of suffering a lower front plate shot into the T-Series ammo carousel?)…insert russian name for thing where 2 of the three crew are “floating” on eh…i mean sitting on (its all connected they are not levitating through stalins will, trust) squished together like in a sauna. You know the thing that actually protects all of the most important components on any T-series (driver is expendable, sry dude) tank from any spall generated if anything pens the hull.
Man if only any other nation on the planet would realize that only 20 mm of aluminium - or whatever it is they use that protects everything behind it - well unless the dart itself zips right through it - turns every pen of the actual hull into no problemo amigo as long as it doesnt enter the somehow floating cylinder above the autoloader and even then no problem if the dart just flies past ur head in 10 cm distance. Basically like an indestructible Spall Liner. That stops almost everything.
But somehow no one did. should be fairly easy to just slap 20 mm aluminium around every turret basket. Maybe no one irl knows that 20 mm of aluminium stops every piece of spall no matter its weight, shape, material or speed? But that its also the exact thickness of material that doesnt produce any spall itself. None. Nada. Its basically Butter that stops molten metal going at insane speeds. Butterinium so to say. Harvested in the deepest depths of Siberia.
But maybe irl its just not the method to make every tank twice as survivable. But thats just a guess. Or maybe it is??? Sometimes the simple things are actually so crazy that no one thought about how effective they could be.
Or just don’t name it “Turret Basket”. Name it “Cylinder for gunner commander and loader to sit on”. CFGCLTSO. That was easy. Im German, i should know we got a feel for well sounding names for military equipment. Now if the BMP-T, my Leo 2a5, 2a6, 2a7, PSO and all my abrumses could get their properly modelled CFGCLTSOs after the BMP-T example without any annoying hydraulic pumps or anything that turns the turret next patch would be neat. After simply renaming it to have the same name like the ominous thing inside the BMP-T which admittedly clearly is no autoloader (judging by the fact that it didn’t explode when being hit - oh wait it does now explode when hit) let’s just agree that its at least a schrödinger’s autoloader but also rather invisible (which saves weight and space) we can now remove the single piece of mechanic on the bottom of every Turret Basket responsible for turning the turret, that apparently was designed without redundancy somehow and simplify the models of all Leopard 2s and uparmored versions and all Abrams tanks as well, while conveniently also removing the need to add any more “Turret Baskets” to any other Tanks like Leclercs, Type 10s, Merkavas, Challengers, T80s, T90s, T72s, ZTZs and Arietes.
