Serious server issues affecting gameplay

Since the latest update about two weeks ago, I’ve been experiencing persistent issues that severely impact the gameplay:

  1. Packet loss – Every night (UTC+9, Japan), there’s consistent packet loss around 10%, sometimes spiking to 20%. It makes the game nearly unplayable during peak hours, while it’s fine during the day. Sometimes you even can not login.
  2. Delay compensation – There seems to be a problem with the server. Shots often land far from the intended target (e.g., aiming at the bow hits the stern). It feels like the delay compensation has been disabled or is bugged. Even with only 80ms ping on the Asia server, this issue persists, leading to situations where I fire first but die first. In a global server game, this kind of bug seriously ruins the competitive experience.

Please investigate and fix these issues as soon as possible.

If you’re at 80ms, and another person is at 80ms, then they fired 160ms before you, and you didn’t fire first.

This leads to the idea of ghost shells, as well as situations where if you both die by the same shot, making it more special.

Ooft me at 240ms

i average 30-60ms of ping and i still suffer horridly from server desync issues (this is EU servers). My shells often dont register but the later shot from the targeted enemy does killing me.

Seems to be a server-side adjudication/resolution problem with ground not really a network latency one. Air and boats don’t seem to be affected, only ground.

Yesterday evening(Apr 14th), sometimes the PL up to 20-30%, which made the game completely unplayable. And I’m also confused why sometimes I have been brought to a room with 300+ ping (I only chose ASIA server).

I don’t think you can choose just SA, it’s always a second with it.

I’m not sure about other region, but for me, there are 4 choices, RU EU US and Auto select(ASIA). When I choose Auto select, I can not choose other servers simutaneously.

When you choose SA, I’m absolutely sure it’s SA plus one other.

It may not display it, but I’m sure it’s doing that as that was what it was doing recently.

SA is included with NA and not selectable as a standalone server however auto select seems to prioritize SA

I think it’s actually whatever pings closest to you, it adds it in with the SA option.

You’re likely in NZ/AU or another pacific area, where the ping for the EU and CIS set are higher.

Yeah AU, but while I was trying to figure out what was going on with server selection I found some people that where getting pushed into SA when using auto select, despite EU having far lower ping for them, that’s why I say it seems to “prioritize” SA. Who knows what’s actually going on with that.

I’d bet you that they don’t get better ping on the EU compared to the US servers… Whilst they’ll have a more stable connection to the EU, they will not have the same ping.

From NZ I have 200 ping to the US, 300 ping to the EU.

I’m just going off what was in the bug reports I a was going through to figure out the SA server thing, and people where claiming that auto select was putting them in high ping servers, looking again I might be remembering it backwards as I’m now finding people in Indonesia etc saying its putting them into EU:

The report you link is just someone saying they get put into other servers, as I said, it’s not just SA.

It selects another to put with it.

Yes I stated that I seem to have miss remembered it in my last comment.
But given that he is in Indonesia in SA and saying he gets put into EU, that as we both know is the 2nd highest ping server from this region (behind CIS), when using auto select. It still indicates that there is something other then ping being taken into account with the auto selection. There are multiple posts of people getting connected to higher ping servers so it’s not just a one off because the server was having issues for a bit.
But who knows, I’m no I.T. expert. Gaijin should just let people select SA as a standalone server again.

You assume that it’s better, but it won’t be… Routing will reflect this.

Look man, if they say they have lower ping in SA but get sent to EU I’m going to take them at their word, I obviously can’t check their system.

That isn’t what the report is saying…

can you guys please put SA server as optional and not as auto select, I’m from Indonesia and this game always put me at EU server because auto select

He is in south Asia and is being sent to EU by auto select… Ok he doesn’t specifically mention ping but here are more that do…

sorry I linked one that didn’t mention ping, there are so many auto select reports I lose track.
