They aren’t. In fact, Kontact 5 is missing about 30mm protection vs kinetic projectiles.
And if I recall correctly, Relict is under preforming by about 80mms vs kinetic.
Relict was especially designed with kinetic protection in mind.

I can’t think of one single way in which any Russian tank may be superior than Leopard 2A7V xD.
Russian tanks’ primary strengths rely on their armor protection- that’s what they are mostly better at than most other tanks…
But Leopard 2A7V has not only the typical NATO mobility, gun dynamics and firepower advantages; but ALSO the signature Russian tank armor protection, backed up, on top of that, with an interior fully coated in spall liners.
People debate whether Russian tanks or the Abrams is better… and it’s an understandable debate because both have strengths and weaknesses. But Leopard 2A7V literally has ALL of the strengths of both with NONE of the weaknesses of either.
Even with artificial armor and acceleration nerfs, Leopard 2A7V is the ultimate combination of primary and soft factors; the perfect mix of protection, mobility and firepower.
