As it currently stands, many aircraft have the capability to run either standard calibre or large calibre countermeasures, but are locked to a preset size / combination, that gaijin decide arbitrarily. This is okay in some instances, but problematic in others, and whilst there are pros and cons to which size you have, whether that is all large, all standard or a mix. It ultimately should be the players choice what they have, and not chosen for them. Which is best can change from BR to BR, gamemode to gamemode, even player to player. So the flexibility would also be a huge boost to the everyone
An extremely common example of a CM pod that can be switched between standard and large is the AN/ALE-40 dispenser found on many aircraft, such as the Harrier, F-16, F-5, F-15, F-18, etc etc.
This CM pod can take either 30 standard or 15 large CMs. The F-16A for example has 2, and is currently set to one with standard and one with large. Resulting in a mix of 30/15.
If each pod could be configured to the desired CM type, then you would have maximum flexibility in your desired loadout, which could then be 30 large, 30/15 split or 60 standard. Everyone wins.
The best implementation I can think of is to have each dispenser listed in the spawn screen, and you can drop it down to select the type, much in the same way you do with shells in ground and naval. But rather than adjusting the amount carried afterwards, you are adjusting the flare/chaff ratio.

Alternatively to the spawn screen. CM type could be part of the custom loadout, and adjustable during the creation of the loadout. Allowing you to tailor the CM type, to the scenario intended with each loadout, for example, favouring Large CMs during ground battles with a CAS loadout, but a greater quantity of standard calibre during air battles. (This could just be a default setting for them, but then manually adjustable afterwards in the spawn screen, so that it automatically changes, but can then be fine tuned)
- On the spawn screen (like with shells)
- As part of the Custom loadout
- Default set in the Custom loadout, but adjustable on the spawn screen
- I selected no above
- Other (please specify)
