So I was testing out the new anti ship missiles on the Su-30MKM and how they compared to the Japanese ASM-2. I’m slightly confused and wondering if this is intended behavior but I don’t think it is. Since ASM missiles have come out they have gone through multiple flight path iterations and none have really worked. Currently Japanese ASM missiles fly too high before impact and end up hitting smoke stacks or missing. I was surprised to see that the KH-59MKE dives down to hit hull and consistently will target turret ammo stores rather than midship.
I don’t think I have other ASM’s unlocked to test so I’m wondering if there was any announcement post about other ASM’s getting reworked flight models or if this is accurate for the weapon system. I’ll take some screenshots shortly.
In the second screenshot for each weapon I approached from the north flying at around 200 meters and launched around 7km away for comparisons sake.
KH59MKE
ASM-2 - Both were misses
