Scimitar Strike: Scimitar Mk.2

Whoever set the matchmaking for that thing—what was he smoking when he put it at 8.3? Did he even play a single battle in it?

Well, i guess i will hang on to the coupon for a while. This damn market crashed even after the apfsds was added…This is what happens when Gaijin pushes out half-baked product.

No, the devs don’t play their own game

It was expected to be ridiculously expensive (in fact, I considered not participating in the event and buying it, for the sake of my sanity).
On very large maps, with some kind of restriction to prevent 15 out of 16 players from having a MBT, it could be an interesting tank, effectively killing other IFVs.
It should also be noted that this tank is missing quite a few things, such as the fragmentation layer, the functioning slat armor, the second-generation thermal imager for the driver (or first-generation, but the driver surely has a thermal imager) and the third-generation thermal imager for the gunner, the ability to reach its speed limit of 80km/h, and the lack of modeling of the composite armor on the front of the turret.

I think you could update the report, since in the IR spotlight box it is clearly visible that there is an armor plate that is also not modeled.

you mean the soundproofing?

you mean the decorative fence

uhm actually there’s literally no way to know if the scimitar mk.2 actually had gen 2 thermals

marketing lie

no evidence for this

just trying to pre-empt gaijin’s responses :D

I mean the problem is that it really doesn’t fit in anywhere, like the Warrior doesn’t have the dart (APDS still performs well enough) but it’s more mobile with better thermals and an ATGM for tougher targets at the same BR, you can bring the Fox if you want to rat around, and if you plan to sit sniping from a ridge then there are MBTs with LRFs and much better rounds that you can take

You’re right that it’s a vehicle that doesn’t “fit in anywhere,” but the problem is that, given how the developers are making the game and how they’re leaving the maps, this is exactly what happens to many vehicles in the game. You simply have dozens of vehicles in the same battle royale, and if you use more than half of them, you’re at a disadvantage compared to what the enemy can produce. That’s why you often see teams spamming the same tank; people are looking for the tank that performs to their advantage. Personally, I like to play all the tanks, whether they’re better or worse. What is clear, though, is that some tanks don’t perform well, and that’s because, aside from not having the best specs, the game itself and its extremely small maps accentuate those limitations, causing these vehicles to behave in strange ways that are rarely seen in matches.
If all the Scimitar Mk2’s problems were fixed, it would improve somewhat, and if they added large maps where its gun’s accuracy could be exploited compared to other IFVs, it would be even better. Even though there are hundreds of vehicles with better performance, at least you could exploit its advantages if you decide to use it in a match.
I also mentioned in another post that reconnaissance vehicles should have a more important role, giving certain vehicles (like the Scimitar Mk2) a significantly higher Battle Rating (BR), but also providing more rewards for detection, considerably more per enemy killed by you, and drone detections should also grant a certain amount of reward (of course, better than detecting with binoculars). This would create a high-level branch of vehicles that would primarily serve for reconnaissance and combat against other light vehicles, and with some luck, destroy MBTs from the side or rear.

It’s crazy how they release vehicles with visual models but incomplete armor models.

Like… I’ve worked in a couple industries and yeah stuff happens SOMETIMES where a product gets botched and something is missed in Q/Q.

But this is such a normal occurance at this point it may as well be a feature of war blunder.

@Smin1080p_WT You said/showed previously that the TES slat armor will be removeable on the Mk.2, can we expect the ability to do so in the next major update or sooner?

It’s gonna be almost a month since they said it will be removable…

something something, Britain suffers…

With the next major update.

Awesome, thanks for the update!

Will we also get the option to add and remove the extra amour on both Challenger Mk.3s, as well as changing the name of the Challenger DS to “OG,” which is short for Operation Granby?

Please don’t forget that the Challenger’s ready rack capacity also needs to be increased.

[Gaijin Please] Add the Additional Armour Package to the Challenger DS

This would be such a simple thing to implement in the game, and there’s no reason why it couldn’t happen. Please. 🙏

I’m currently not seeing anything on the dev server. Will this be added afterwards?

The Slat armor modification is on the dev server, so you can uninstall the extra armor. However the “tea table” does not get removed with the modification.

Just did some testing in regards to the acceleration of the Scimitar Mk.2 with and without the Slat armor. I tested by just holding forward on the runway on the map Cargo port. The Mk.1 I have fully aced Tank driving, while on the Mk.2, it is only expert crew. The Mk.1 also have a higher top speed of 87km/h compared to the 80km/h of the Mk.2.

- Mk.2 with armor Mk.2 without armor Mk.1
2nd gear 0,11s 0,10s 0,10s
3rd gear 0,26s 0,23s 0,26s
4th gear 1,08s 1,05s 1,08s
5th gear 2,22s 2,14s 2,19s
6th gear 8,08s 7,09s 7,19
7th gear 15,07s 13,06s 13,15s
80km/h 59,06s 45,14s 36,11s

The Mk.2 switches into 7th gear, when it is around a speed of 51km/h, while the Mk.1 switches into 7th gear with a speed of around 55km/h.

But generally, the acceleration of the Mk.1 vs Mk.2 is very similar until it switches into 7th gear.
With vs without slat armor is also reletively close until the 7th gear. With the one with slat being only 2 seconds slower. However as soon as you hit 7th gear it becomes very slow to accelerate.

- Mk.2 with armor Mk.2 without armor Mk.1
10km/h 0,25s 0,26s 0,23s
20km/h 2,13s 2,05s 2,04s
30km/h 5,14s 4,26s 4,13s
40km/h 9,05s 8,05s 7,02s
50km/h 14,13s 12,16s 11,03s
60km/h 28,00s 22,22s 17,27s
70km/h 42,05s 33,08s 26,27s
80km/h 59,06s 45,14s 36,11s
Top speed 59,06s 45,14s 43,27s

I was sitting here all excited, thinking it was the Challenger 2 TES because the bug report was accepted ages ago, but they forgot to add it. This is the Scimitar discussion so, fork found in the kitchen.

I guess I’ll have to create another post about it. They hate the challenger so much.
