Why would i buy it, i have the whole tech tree unlocked
I’ve been grinding with the F-4S and the sparrows are fine. They’re no more flaky than any other SARH when being fired into big chaotic furballs. They’re still factually one of the deadliest missiles in the matchmaking bracket. The main frustration is the warcrime that is being constantly uptiered into the undertiered F-15. All in all things have been much easier in the F-4S than they were back when I was grinding with the Mig-23ML, and that was before they took the mig out back and shot her. That said, while the missiles are fine, some things feel a bit flaky about the radar.
Something feels off about HMD ACM PD mode. It occasionally struggles to lock approaching targets that boresight ACM PD mode instantly locks. I don’t know why since AFAIK the HMD version should be the same as the boresight version except following the helmet, but I’ve just started cycling modes to get back to boresight ACM for most of my locks.
The PD mode also seems to have a bad problem with locking chaff, swapping to TRK MEM when the chaff sudden decelerates to a velocity where PD can’t see it, and then shuts down entirely a few moments later. If the target is backdropped by enough sky, sometimes I try to compensate by just using SRC mode. Then the radar tends to remain locked on the chaff but at least keeps the target illuminated enough for the missile to keep tracking. This is a problem with the radar, and probably in part their half baked automatic mode switching. Both SRC and PD search modes promptly swap to PD tracking once the lock is acquired. Flaky spaghetti code with the mode switching algorithm is the only way that I can explain why locks made with PD search swap over to TRK MEM before shutting down entirely when the opponent chaffs while locks made with standard SRC drop back down to a SRC track that remains locked onto the chaff. I think all PD radar is having issues with locking chaff right now. It’s just that the top tier planes can cope with it better since Fox-3s are better at reacquiring targets and the 27ER have a data link that lets the pilot wrangle them better.
im not offering it to you. im saaying you shouldnt tell me about F-4S radar, while you dont even have that jet. its a videogame and any of “rules” of that vedeogame’s world can be broken at any time and not even on purpose.
The radar is identical to the F-4J, Phantom FG.1, Phantom FGR.2 and F-4J(UK) radar.
yeah. in the card, maybe. so?
Bro Radar 1= Radar 1. Card paranoia is real but I doesn’t mean that they are different.
its the SAME radar on the F-4J, FGR-2 and FG-1
This has been an issue for over a year i doubt its gonna get fixed
is there something wrong with you two? did i disagree that they are the same in the card or what? idk how they are work in the game nor did i say anything about them.
Just git gud bra
This is your reply to someone telling you they’re the same radar.
I interpreted this as you saying it may be the same on the card but not in game.
Please tell me if you meant something different
yup, still happening
yeah, but not quite. i meant i dont know nor i care about them. maybe they are, maybe they are not. not my concern.
i was talking about f-4s radar and 7f on it. i know(knew, since they are changed something about 7f and i didnt play that phantom since) how they are working. how works things with the same label on different planes in the game - i dont know. maybe they werent working properly on those planes irl due to some mechanical\electronical issue or whatnot and gaijin nerfed them. i have no slightest idea, pal.
Ah ok than, mb.
I thing this problem affect more nations. I play mostly F16C but sometime play also Su27SM and both SARH and ARH missiles do same wierd stuff - instantly turning in wrong directions/targets.
Noooot even close haha.
I can fire off 8 of my ARH missiles and expect to score 3-4 kills without someone taking evasive action. With SARH, even with a solid lock, my missiles just do whatever they wanted. Gave up going back to anything SARH because it sucked so bad.
Im gonna answer each of your points individually as I read through
This is not a problem with the AIM-7 Specifically but a server problem, so it effects all missiles, gaijin needs better servers
Ive never had this happen ever, make sure the little circle around the enemy is red before you fire, at least, if you have time, wait for 2 complete red circles
This is due to that target giving off a bigger radar return, its a real issue pilots dealt with. Just watch your missile, if its going for a friendly, unlock the enemy target, better to loose a missile than a teammate
Yes
The AIM-7 is a big heavy missile that only pulls 25g’s, its pretty easy to dodge if you know what your doing, AIM-120 solves this with its 35g overload
Overall theres been no changes to missiles or radars in the past year that would cause the missiles to be worse, I personally believe its all server side and theres not much you can do about that.
After the AoA nerf, it barely turns over 29+G on avg, even with decent energy. The thing is, 120s also have a ton of drag, therefore there’s a minuscule window that 120s can’t be kinetically avoided, as the overload decreases rapidly.
Don’t believe me? Play some games and check the missile’s telemetry.
