I have 3,000 hours in War Thunder, a game that’s been in beta for 13 years. And now I’ve lost all interest in playing it; it doesn’t generate any hype anymore. Here are the reasons:
1- The game is still very unstable. After 13 years, it’s no different from a game still in beta.
2- The servers are still in terrible shape; you can play Air Battle to understand this. Every match, 3-4 people crash for no reason due to packet loss.
3- Battle Rating is completely absurd, especially for premium vehicles. Gaijin nerfs these vehicles after they’ve made enough profit.
4- Nobody can convince me that there’s no match fixing in this game; I’m sure of it. And beyond that, especially when playing Air Battle, I notice that the opposing team consists of vehicles with a battle rating of almost 12.7 (I use 11.7), while our team is mostly 11.7.
5- Grinding
Researching a new vehicle is pure torture. There are thousands of vehicles in the game, and still no ease of access has been provided. Even with premium vehicles, it takes days. And that’s not all; then you have to research the modules for the vehicle you’re looking for, which is another torture.
6- Inconsistency
I could have mentioned this in the first reason, but I wanted to discuss it separately. I especially want to talk about what happened to me while playing Ground Realistic. In almost every match, it was hard not to go crazy because of issues like ghost shell and no post-pen damage.
7- Crew Experience
Many people say this isn’t “pay to win,” it’s “pay to skip.” But I think that’s completely ridiculous; it’s just there so people can throw in 5-10 dollars and get crew points. With the latest updates, all vehicles are in all the trees. And let’s say your enemy is using the same tank as you, and you’re both richoceted, but they reload faster because they have more crew points than you.
Overall, this game is completely dedicated to making money. Yes, it’s a free game, and of course some content needs to be paid for to make money, but it shouldn’t affect the gameplay this much. This post will probably be closed, but I still wanted people to realize it. Now they’re adding an infantry mode, and the game isn’t even stable yet, is this necessary? Of course it is, because Gaijin is a greedy company, and providing a good game to the player base is obviously not important to them, because the only thing that matters is profit.
Good luck to everyone playing this game. Maybe in 10 years it will come out of beta and they’ll decide to develop it further, but I highly doubt that will happen.
