SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

I’d be more interested if they added some sort of electronic warfare/datalink stuff to the game, like the jamming pods. Gripens are supposedly very good at that stuff. Could make the Gripen C pretty dangerous

I doubt that is their concern. More likely its the number of hard-points and flight performance. Quite frankly, the differences in RCS likely wont be modeled

Yeah, we needed ECMs a year ago. Tornado as well would beenfit greatly from them. But yeah, the ECM on the deltas are actually very good. I’ve read a thing where F-22s had a really hard time getting a lock on German Typhoons in a Dogfight because of them

I can see it happening, would be a nice way to balance the small agile fighters to the gigantic missile buses? Wouldn’t be too hard to implement I think

Not.

Oh, btw @CorporalApollo the JAS 39 changes are in datamine. They’re coming this week, and the drag reduction is about 15.9%.

Can check all the changes here;

Forget flight model changes. They need to delete the radar and start again, its so buggy, its almost unusable. Dozens of ghosts targets. TWS just stops tracking changes to an entirely different target, and targets not even showing up. I was point my nose at a Su-27, at alt, with ACM PD on and nothing, couldnt see it at all.

Turn it off and turn it back on again?

Does nothing. Ghost targets remain and doesnt help when the radar shows no contacts at all. Just feels a buggy mess at the moment. Actually almost makes the Gripen C unplayable in SB currently

Well that sucks, do you have a report open?

It also gained drag to in some aspects unless I’m having brain fart

Drag & thrust reduced in areas, thrust increased in other areas.

Roughly a 16% decrease in drag?

That should be a huge difference, right? Isn’t drag exponential with higher speed, therefore thrust needs to be even higher to overcome it?

With that amount of decreased drag it runs the risk of actually going to fast, is it not?

Dude my friend has had those same issues with ghost targets, I don’t have the issues on PS5. He says top tier is unplayable right now. Maybe the two of you could make a bug report?

I have those regular radar bugs that forces you to restart radar, but my friends bug is even worse and it doesn’t fix it

Thank you, I’ll check it out

For the ghost contacts, yeah, as for the rest of it. I have no idea where to begin. But the radar feels totally unfinished, which is pretty normal for most aircraft, usually takes 3-9 months before radars are actually working for aircraft

F3 sea Harrier cough cough

I don’t know, check out Oshida’s explanation of the changes and the thrust values;

Biggest changes are going to be the low altitude high speed performance. RideR2 will likely do another test of the sustained turn rate when the changes are live. We can then review the changes for 30 minutes fuel, sea level sustained turn rate performance.

I did some tests of acceleration at sea level

Do you think sustained will be heavily affected by these changes? @MiG_23M

There are also these changes from Oshida’s datamine. I found this format a little easier to read instead of going to reddit and stuff.
